An Unusual Day

I woke up this morning & things just didn't seem to feel right. My girlfriend, who because of her bad back, suggested that any outdoor stuff I had planned for today should be set aside for tomorrow. She couldn't have been more right. Not too long after she left for work, the Heavens came down and the wind blew extremely strong. At one point, I thought that all the stuff on the deck was going to be blown into the next city. Lucky for me though, it is all still there. Around lunch time though, things got a little scary for me. I always travel on one certain road every day I go to meet Shannon for lunch. The wind & rain had really picked up at that point, but it was not unusual for me. After picking her up, we headed back down that very same road, only to discover that a rather tall & thick tree had blown over & landed right in the middle of the street. What made me a little distraught, was the fact that the heaviest looking part of that tree was on the side of the road that I had driven on when I was picking Shannon up. If I'd been only a couple of more minutes late in getting her, I may not be sitting here telling this story. To make things a little more scarier, the music that I was playing in my truck was the soundtrack for Clive Barker's "Hellraiser". While I'll sit here & keep thanking God for making me miss that tree, I can't help but wonder if that was my second escape from possibly dying? The first being me nearly dying in my bathroom on Christmas morning 2002, do to lack of air caused by my throat closing up on me.
