With temperatures in the mid-forties today, the out-of-doors called me to walk instead of drive to get lunch. My company is next to a car dealer, and on the other side of that is a private school. This stream, called Furnace Brook, flows along the other side of the road and then turns right under the bridge to create the property line between the dealership and the school. I was standing on the school's property to take this picture. I'm intrigued by the red stems, but a quick internet search tells me that there are many plants with red stems out there, and without leaves it would be difficult to identify them.
