So in my current office, the way people get their music is they plug headphones into their computer and listen to streaming stations online. According to one long-time employee, there was an attempt to put music on the office PA system at one point, but nobody could agree on what they wanted to hear, so that was dumped.
I'd been seeing commercials on New York television for a fairly new radio station that's designed for listening to at work during the daytime, is aimed at women and promises a playlist of contemporary music, "no sleepy, tired old songs." So, I've been listening to it the last few days, and it is, indeed, a more than decent station, playing stuff along the lines of Lifehouse and Maroon 5. (Kelly Clarkson is all over the place, but that's okay, most of her stuff is at least listenable. And so far, thank God, no Celine Dion sightings, unlike on New York's at-work-listening institution, Lite FM).
But their moniker has *got to go.* The station, you see, calls itself Fresh 102.7. I know that it's supposed to convey the message that they play "fresh" music, but given that they go out of their way to promote themselves as a woman-oriented station, all I can think of is feminine hygiene product commercials. Yikes.
