Where are all the good Snevans fics?
I thought about signing up for tumblr, but stopped when I realized it would totally eat my life. I do want to chat it up about Severus/Lily fic a bit so I'll just reblog this tumblr post by randomneses, here at my LJ. ;P

Remember when you could read a fic about Snape and Lily in which they weren’t endgame and James wasn’t made out as an evil human being?
Yeah that last bit was always hard to find but the stuff before that…impossible post-DH. And it really REALLY disappoints me.

Where are all these endgame Severus/Lily fics?? I've seen some of the heaven reconciliation ones, lately, (which I’m not looking for as I prefer to see them get together in life and I don’t like the heaviness and angst of all the death plus regret), but none where it goes AU and Snape gets one more chance (like in my fic) or a second chance (like in The Moment It Began) or takes an earlier chance (like in A Man's Greatest Treasure) to not fuck it all up for himself and thus we get Snevans endgame. Most of what I’ve seen for Severus/Lily overall (borked characterization or not) is a bunch of stuff that aims to be canon compliant and is angsty with impending relationship doom, or is intended to be bittersweet due to the knowledge that the relationship is doomed later down the road, or covers the period after SWM and is just tragic and doomed, or has Severus/Lily reconcile in heaven.
Where are all the endgame in life AU Snevans fics (that end happily)? Aside from those three I mentioned (mine isn’t done but it’s no secret that it’s Severus/Lily forever), I can’t even think of any. Period. Not even any badly written, character borked ones where Lily is blamed and James is evil and Snape is just a woobie victim of fate with no responsibility for his fucked-up-ness whatsoever. Apparently, they are out there, but I somehow haven’t run across them. Point me to them (I’m now morbidly curious). And if anyone has any links to any good AU happy ending Snevans fics, then do please send them my way, as well.
Also, is it unusual that I like canon Snape for what he is, but when I read fic, I most want to read/write AU’s in which Snape gets character growth and becomes not so much of a fuck up? I prefer to see the journey from ‘very fucked in the head’ to ‘lovable curmudgeon/jerk with a heart of gold who’s on the mend and who is still an asshole from time to time’ and then continue reading about that Snape, while it seems like most reasonable Snape fans want to enjoy the angst of canon style Snape fuckery in fic. It seems like most reasonable Snape fans are drawn to Snape for the angst, and I’m drawn to Snape for the potential to work through and past the angst. My fic reading and writing focus is usually on unexplored AU potential rather than unexplored canon details (canon compliant fic). I’m funny that way, I guess.
Having said that, I hope someone out there writes more ‘Lily/Snape unrequited angst with Lily/James as endgame without James being gross and ott’ fics for the fans of that (and for when I can handle the angst of canon compliant Snevans fic). And I hope for more Snape/Lily fics of any variety that DON’T include things like evil James, Marauders bashing, spineless or otherwise mangled Lily characterization (nothing makes me click the back button faster), or Snape as woobie victim of fate and/or whitewashed to the point that he doesn’t even need the realization that he needs to change/take a different path. And hopefully I’m not the only one writing AU Snevans endgame that isn’t making James or The Marauders evil and is writing Lily with a spine and writing Snape fucked up to start but gives him character growth.
