Four more screenshots from the opening theme. Depicted: Sailor Jon, Tux Jansen, Princess Liberty, Stephen Junior, Jason Jonesemus, and Queen Coulter.
This one is my favorite.
(I found nice reference pictures for the birds, and I'm very proud of how they turned out; Jason in particular.)
(There's going to be an effect in the crystal ball eventually.)
I also took the Japanese lyrics for the opening and ending themes and wrote parody translations. The Engrish words ("muunraito", "mirakuru romansu") remain the same, and a few of the more familiar Japanese words ("gomen", "tsuki") are translated faithfully. The rest is just messed with.
Late-Night Densetsu (Late-Night Legend)
(
Original lyrics with translation)
I'm sorry that I'm not honest
(And that I cut that segment of yours;
We just ran short on time that night;
I know you liked it, but that's how it is.)
I can see the moonlight outside my window
When I stay up until midnight just to watch you
To the rest of the world, you wear masks
My heart wants to know the real you
I don't really understand this whole
moon-reincarnation-princess backstory
It's pretty weird, and seems kind of far-fetched
But I don't care if it makes sense or not
If I can be with you, it doesn't matter
Here in the same city
A miracle romance
I'll believe in that
A miracle romance
Princess Jon
(
Original lyrics with translation)
It's the simple things: you order a pizza
And eat it together, looking at the shining stars
When you can be like that, talking, laughing,
isn't that the best kind of love?
Sometimes you think it's just a friendly thing
But then he gives you that smile
And you start daydreaming about a kiss
And you lose all track of time
Like a teenager with a crush, you moon
Over this impossibly wonderful person
Together under the moon,
it's like you're on a merry-go-round
One day soon, stop circling and confess directly
Until then, watch, wait, love,
And moon, moon, Princess
What do you think? Too silly? Not silly enough? Anything else I should try to include? Anything too clever to pass up?
(Gee, what could I be working on?...)
