It's Christmas! Well, for those of you lucky enough to live here in Australia, that is. The rest of you probably have to wait a little while. But when it's Christmas for you guys, too, post here telling me all about your haul! (I seriously want to hear, I get an inordinate amount of enjoyment out of listening to people talk about gifts they ( Read more... )

I don't really collect Ponies or anything, but Rarity + AJ are my favourite characters, so I knew I had to at least get them. And I'm studying to be a teacher so when I saw that they sold Cheeralee as a single, I knew I had to get her too. (Plus her design is cute, her shade of purple makes her look delicious.)
I guess when I said I hadn't found any others where she had her hat, I meant in the same range as the singles Ponies (so the same size). Although I have actually not seen big sets like that.
RARITY WOULD DISAGREE

Eight-inch pony pumps not your thing?

Yeah, I just want the regular sized/single set Ponies, though I don't think I'll be getting any more. I considered getting some of those little figurines they sell in boxes (blind bag?) but to be perfectly honest, they look pretty shitty. You know the ones?

Yeah, I don't think we actually have the "blind bag" things (which I would probably actually buy because I love the idea of those too! Which would, no doubt, endear me to the ponie I ended up getting, and making me want to buy them normal-sized as well. It's a conspiracy), just the box sets. And it's the paint details that put me off, even the ones in the boxes just looked like... I dunno, something I'd see in a dollar store in Chinatown, you know? Just, they didn't look official AT ALL.

I know, right?? My Brony friend (who got me into the series) says that they probably came out with the merchandise before the show even started, which I can understand, but I'm so utterly baffled by the fact that they have missed out on such an enormous merchandising opportunity when they are a series based on merchandise. Even if most of the initial merchandise was produced before the show aired (and/or got popular), I can't fathom why they haven't started to produce better stuff as the series went on. They made the series just so they could sell toys! Why aren't they selling toys??

Hm, I haven't heard about that. Links?
