I had to take my cat, Elliot, in for some blood work today to see how his white and red blood cell counts were and to decide if he could handle more chemotherapy for his lymphoma. The test results said his blood was fine, but all the indicators for liver function said he was in liver failure. The vet said he had some of the worst numbers he'd ever seen. So, we made the hard, awful decision to put him down. I went to the vet after work and held Elliot's head and petted him while he went to sleep for the last time. He purred so hard. He was one of the sweetest cat's I've ever known, much less owned. I will miss having him waiting for me at the door when I come home from work. The condo felt so empty when I got home afterward. It's going to take some getting used to.
