Not that work was so overwhelming I couldn't catch up after a week away, I did, by noon yesterday. Outlook inbox cleaned out, voicemails noted (no answer at one and I need to consult with an instructor on the other), snail mailbox done and the inbox on my desk cleaned out bar one task that required the coordinator actually be there, which she wasn't. All by noon! And what did I do for the rest of the day? Frittered the afternoon away on Facebook and lj, started another scene out of my
space_wrapped, of which I noodled out about 100 words before I left. This morning was even worse! Two e-mails to respond to and one appointment revision later, I've pretty much got a clean slate for the rest of today and it's barely 9:30! But...
My car has popped a "service engine" light for two days now. That was one of the things I meant to get done last week, but didn't. So, it looks like a call to the Chevy dealer to see how soon I can get it in and looked at. That means another day off sometime this week. Not that I mind, I just wish I'd forced myself to do it last week, before we got all this snow and freezing temps that have turned the roads into slick ice. One of the things wrong with my car is the traction control system. I'm not sure it's working properly and with all this ice on the roads, it could get dangerous if it's not working properly. I nearly took out four students yesterday afternoon because the ABS is tied into the traction control and it seemed like it didn't want to kick in properly. I drive slow around campus anyway and was driving even slower because of the roads, but still, 3000 lbs. vs 180 lbs., I think I know who'd win even at 10mph.
And, my
space_wrapped story is due on the 21st. I've got twelve scenes outlined as of now, there may be more added, IDEK! I wrote the third scene on Sunday, around 500 words. Started the fourth scene at work yesterday and pounded out another 1100 words on that last night, but it's not done yet. The story is clocking in at 4200 words so far, with eight and a bit scenes to go. Seven days of writing left and it will still need to be betad. ::headdesk:: I'm good under pressure, but I don't know if I'm this good.
It doesn't matter that I got pretty much everything done around the condo last week that I wanted to get done. The Wii is hooked up, got the wireless router set up again, Wii talking to wireless which means Netflix instant streaming and the innernets on my TV. Score! The only thing in the condo that didn't get done was replacing the kitchen faucet. I can live with the drip a little longer, it's not a safety issue. D: But all that meant that
jou and
maypirate were able to come over for dinner and we watched very much Say Yes to the Dress and stuffed ourselves with Chile Verde and Corn Bread Casserole before finishing off with Key Lime pie. Then they had to leave because of the blasted snow storm. And now my car is misbehaving! Damn shit is ruining my life, I say.
Send pretty boys and bourbon help! I'm drowning.
