Make A Splash~

One moment, that spot is completely empty, and the next a rather large boulder seems to just snap into existence. What might draw the eye of any spectator however, is not the boulder itself, but rather the form perched directly on top of it. His pale is skin bare to the waist, adorned only by a gleaming platinum necklace, the ring that serves as ( Read more... )

Alison is nothing if not eloquent.

When she's not busy staring in shock.

Give her a minute.

Catching a flash of red in his peripheral vision, Namor tilts his head in her direction, leaning his temple against the tops of his knees. When he sees her, he keeps silent for a long moment, his smile widening slightly. Hello there Ali. A strand of hair falls across his eyes and he blows it away before offering her any words.

"So... Hi." His smile remains unchanged.

"Hi." See? Eloquent. Totally.

Talking doesn't seem to have helped much, although she's managed to stop looking like she's a heartbeat away from complete panic. She doesn't quite look wary, but her footing is unsure here, and she'll let him set the course for now. "I've missed you."

He hadn't doubted it for a second.

Sliding off the rock, he closes the distance between them in a few steps until he's standing barely an arms-length away from her. The smile on his face sobers only slightly, but doesn't falter. Reaching out, he gently brushes a strand of fiery hair behind her ear. "Would you believe me if I said I've missed you too?"

Fresh food.

*The answer comes from a tall woman Namor might remember, who looks him over with a touch of wry amusement and more than a touch of appraisal.*

Turning his attention to the familiar woman, he smiles to himself, shaking his head with amusement. It figures that Samus would be here still.

"A scarce commodity where you come from?"

*She is, if nothing else, a survivor. Lives end and worlds burn, but the bitchy blond is a universal constant.*

I grew up planetside; it wasn't until I went up that I spent any long span on ships and stations. If you're eating on a budget, most of what you can get is ration bars, reconstituted protein, and vat-grown kelp. It makes you realize how precious those plumquats really were.

He'd never found her particularly bitchy. Tough? Yes. Harsh? Yes. But he'd usually found her advice sound, and she had that same habit that Ali had. She was usually right.

"Artificial food?" The thought had never occurred to him. Most of the food he'd ever eaten had been natural. What must it have been like to eat artificial food all the time? "I can see how that could put things into perspective."

A pause. "Hello Samus."

"My sanity," says Zero. "I would have said my family, but I quit taking them for granted after meeting my first few alts here."

"Your sanity?" He tilts his head curiously. "I can see how easy that would be to take for granted. What made you stop?"

"I've seen alts that weren't exactly all that stable, though in most cases that was because of a virus." 'Been there, done that' himself as well, though it's gone now. "But it's mostly because I just had several people tell me to take a day off before I snapped."

"Mm. From what I hear, most of my alternate selves are rather more... prone to rages than I am. No one seems to have a plausible cause for that as yet, though." He's never met one, but he's almost sure that if he did, he wouldn't like the man. "Do you work very hard at what you do, then?"

Having friends and family members around. Not that I lack of either, but I've been close to losing all of them during the war.

"I doubt I could ever take that for granted. My family's stood beside me through far too much for that. But I can see how a body might come to do it."
