Too Many Pets

Feb 16, 2011 15:48

The Waltz by the Sign wastes no time in getting right to the point. "Do any of you have suggestions for how I could keep one of my siblings from making a pet out of almost every monster we encounter? Other than killing them?" He doesn't specify whether he means killing the monsters or the other Waltz.

"Are these pets interfering with your home life? Destroying your property?" Starscream regards the winged being coolly, then looks down. "No, Mo. That's a dead rat. Put it back."

The little yerk complains cheerfully and makes his tiny spider exosuit carry the late rodent away.

"They're starting to interfere. We travel, and he insists on bringing at least a few of them along. Convincing villages to let us in when we just had the displacer beast was difficult enough... A displacer and a red dragon is just asking to have the town guard attack us on sight."

"Get some flags and call yourself a traveling show."

"That... might work," Arashi admits. If they could get the displacer and the more obvious dragon to ride in cages on carts. But then they'd need horses... He almost winces at the thought of more animals.

Arashi assumes this person is drunk, on drugs, insane, or some combination of the three and tries to ignore them.

If you like, I can be obliged to free some of my busy schedule to take watch over your sister.... for a suitable fee, of course.

Arashi is a little calmer after frying a few nearby couches with thunder spells. "He doesn't need a babysitter, and we need him with us when we're traveling. But he needs to keep his pets literally out of my face before something happens."
