Too Many Pets

Feb 16, 2011 15:48

The Waltz by the Sign wastes no time in getting right to the point. "Do any of you have suggestions for how I could keep one of my siblings from making a pet out of almost every monster we encounter? Other than killing them?" He doesn't specify whether he means killing the monsters or the other Waltz.

Arashi assumes this person is drunk, on drugs, insane, or some combination of the three and tries to ignore them.

If you like, I can be obliged to free some of my busy schedule to take watch over your sister.... for a suitable fee, of course.

Arashi is a little calmer after frying a few nearby couches with thunder spells. "He doesn't need a babysitter, and we need him with us when we're traveling. But he needs to keep his pets literally out of my face before something happens."

((Sorry, assumed sibling was a she. Disregard that))

(Smirks as she knows a few electrifying spells herself)

Well, then, considering the power you wield, you can just nicely warn him off them unless he wants them roasted then, can't you? You have a temper that kind of reminds me of a certain miniscule sorceress with no cleavage to speak of.

((Hey, your chara'd have no way to know, since they haven't met Mistral. :) ))

Arashi chuckles at the thought for a moment, then shakes his head. "That's the outcome I'm trying to avoid. It's really my temper that's the problem," he admits this with a bit of reluctance. "Mistral knows not to irritate me, but lately his pets haven't been as careful. Two of them keep trying to wash my face when Mistral isn't around to order them to leave me alone. And if it keeps up, I might do something we'll regret."

Hmmm... Perhaps a cage or some sort of portal to seal them in when Mistral isn't around then?

"If I could get him to agree to keep them caged. He keeps some of them in the Nexus, and some in or near our home village, but he's been bringing the displacer and the newest dragon with us. A cage would be hard for us to transport, but if he'd just agree to leave them at home it might work."

Is there any way you can convince him? A bribe of some sort may work, you know.

"The only bribe I could imagine working on Mistral would be to find him even more 'pets'. A few more and he could start his own zoo, if his preference wasn't for creatures that would attack most people trying to look at them."

"And he's a few minutes older than I am," which eliminates more or less 'pulling rank' on the other Waltz.

Hmmm.... Sounds like you may need a different solution then, m'dear. How would you like a spell to repel animals? That way, they'd give you a wide berth.

This interests the Waltz. "That sounds very useful, if it's one I can learn." Since that might take a little explanation, he does so, "The magic of my original world has certain restrictions by type, though we've found that doesn't often apply to spells from other worlds."

I can teach you... for a fee of course.

"Of course." That makes more sense to Arashi than altruism ever would. "How much and what currency?"
