There is once more a five-foot-ish spiky figure with a dark aura and grey-black plate armour stomping around the Nexus. The face-concealing helmet might prevent it showing, but the Overlord is a little stunned.

How are you supposed to deal with... awkward family reunions? He pauses and clarifies, When they haven’t attacked you yet... technically.

Six or so foot of scuffed blue bot looks up from where he's playing with a handheld game controller nearby. "...Attack dem first?"

That was how I encountered her, he admits. He's not embarrassed about that, slaughter and conquest is his job, but...

He gives a 'hnnn' that comes out as a dark rumble. I met a lost relative while I was capturing another castle. Her husband's castle.

Gromgard brightens up a bit (metaphorically speaking). Because... I did.

His eyes narrow slightly as he thinks. But I don't know if I should have done something more.

You can always escalate later, if it becomes necessary. It's better strategy to accept the diplomatic option while it lasts.

...Perhaps he's misinterpreted again. I already defeated them.

((Yay! :glomps:))

"I think the best way to handle it would be to be friendly without having too many expectations. And hugs would be good, if you wanted to be on good terms with these people. Which... I'm guessing you're not?" Ali is, well, Ali: pretty much the same as last time he saw her, except more seasonally dressed. Fall is for sweaters and a scarf of reasonable length.

((:D! *gloms onto*))

I don't think I want to be on any terms with them. If you know how to read his voice, there's a definite sulky tint to it. And I think it was too late to be friendly.

He shrugs and nods at her in greeting. Hello, Alison.

"Hello darling. It's never too late to be friendly. It only gets more difficult. But if you don't want to have anything to do with them, then don't. You can disown them." She would demonstrate the hugging part, but well. There's so many reasons not to, when it comes to her favorite little overlord.

Ooh, disowning. That makes him thoughtful. He could do that. It wouldn't be much of a stretch.

I've just conquered their lands. But I suppose that doesn't matter. He considers. They've probably disowned me now. More than before.

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pirates has several useful pieces of advice for situations like these. The real trouble is not finding a piece of advice, its finding the right piece of advice.

Rule 12: A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head.

Rule 16: Your name is in the mouth of others: be sure it has teeth.

Rule 27: Don't be afraid to be the first to resort to violence.

Maybe even Rule 30: A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.

And of course there's the ever valuable Rule 13: Do unto others.

All of these and more are potentially applicable.

He cocks his head, eyes flickering. I was in the middle of 13. So I finished the job.

And yet his problem is still kind of there. He broods for a second, and then comes out with, Aren't there any rules for dealing with mothers?

Rules 9 & 10 seem the most appropriate. 'Never turn your back on an enemy' and 'Sometimes the only way out is through' Or maybe Rule 31: Only cheaters prosper.

I'm not sure she's my enemy. Well, she might be now. What with the pillaging and all. Whoops. He considers. But she's definitely not an ally either.
