Even for first entries to the Nexus, this particular girl's entry is a little...odd ( Read more... )

You're in the Nexus. Usually, you get back the same way that you came in.

*It's not the most friendly of voices. Ah well. The tall, thin man standing leant against a convenient nearby wall isn't looking at her, seeming more intent on lighting his cigars*

"That isn't very helpful, I don't even know how I got here!" Voice rising high enough to figuratively pierce eardrums? Oh yes.

*Yikes. Ouch. The captain winces - he can't help it - and blinks a few times as the automatic irritated frown kicks in. He sets the match to his cigars and turns a sharp, blue-eyed gaze on the piping creature, his tone sarcastic*

That's common enough. But you gave the name of your home.

"...Hello? It's helpful to have people know where you're coming from, so they can help you get back? You know, logic?"

Misha is passing the stage of 'eek' and going into the stage of 'outright irritation' herself. Maybe a snark contest will ensue.

Misha shrieks in surprise, jumping high enough to...land on top of the Sign. In a very painful-looking position. That one HAD to hurt.

Apparently it did, as she spends a few minutes wincing and hissing as she attempts to shift herself off the Sign and back onto the ground.

She has, however, recognized the voice, and complains loudly at Ayatane. "Do you just like sneaking up on me or something?"

"Would I what - you know, have I ever told you I hate you and your stupid jokes?!" And she kicks him in the shin with one of those heavy, high-soled shoes, relishing the obvious wince that flickers across his face.

Upon hearing the girl refer to Ar Tonelico, Ranmaru approaches her.

"Ar Tonelico? Do you know Ayatane?"

Misha squeaks and sort of whirls on Ranmaru in surprise. "A-Ayatane?! I - how do you...how do you know about Ayatane? And Ar Tonelico? Who - what are you?" She's fairly sure she's never seen anyone like this in Sol Ciel before.

Ranmaru laughs lightly, and shakes his head. "I'm a friend of Aya's. We met here, and he's mentioned Ar Tonelico to me a few times." See, he comes in peace.

'Aya'?

She raises her eyebrows and gets a look that can't be anything but...well, smug.

"A...friend, huh?" She laughs lightly. "Heh, I get it. You two must be pretty good friends, if he lets you call him that. I don't think even Lyner's managed to call him by any nicknames yet."

Not that Lyner's tried, but Misha's omitting that little bit of information.

"I'm Misha," she introduces herself, offering a hand. "Misha Arsellec Lune. What's your name?"

Nice tumble she's gone and made! "You okay?"
Wait, but Lyner's... Well, perhaps Aya told her already.

"Ar Tonelico? You're a friend of Ayatene's, aren't you?"

Misha jumps - what is with all these strange people who seem to know Ayatane? - and turns to face Faye, looking rather startled.

"How do you--?"

"I've talked to him when he first got here..."

"...He's talked to a lot of people here, hasn't he?" She sounds a little absent, tucking a strand of hair back up into one of the large clips holding the dark mass back. "This feels kind of weird, honestly. I mean, standing here asking questions about him."

She fidgets, clears her throat. "He - hasn't mentioned me, has he? I - I'm Misha...Misha Arsellec Lune."

"PINPoint's usually the safest and most reliable way," Blues says, dropping out of a Convenient Nexus Tree. "Should be a basket of them by the sign, and there's a scanning device not far from here that will tell you the right coordinates for your home universe."

Misha, as she squeaks and jumps at the udden dropping-out-of-a-tree, wonders when she'll stop being surprised at people SNEAKING UP ON HER.

Probably never.

"U-uh, thanks." Nervous? Very yes. But also curious. "Tell me more?"

Hey, he'd been in the tree when she arrived. Not that Blues doesn't have a habit of sneaking up on people.

"PINPoints are a type of personal teleportation device." He picks one up from the bowl near the Sign and holds it out to her. He'd considered tossing it, but in her state he has his doubts she'd have caught it.

"They operate using a coordinate system. They can be set to specific coordinates so that all you have to do is hit the button and you're where you want to be, or other coordinates can be input to get to other locations. If you know the coordinates, anyway. And I think they come preset with coordinates for the Nexus and a few of the more interesting universes."

"The scanner's over this way. It scans you and will then tell you the coordinates for the last place you were in your universe of origin. Useful if you're lost, and also a good thing if you want to confirm what universe someone's from. Alternates can be a confusing thing around here."

Misha thinks about that one for a second as she takes the PINpoint from Blues, then brightens. "Oh, right. Ayatane told me about these," she says absently, and studies the device before offering Blues a smile. "I'm sorry I freaked out, but you startled me. Do you mind showing me to the scanner?"
