There's some laughter, and a door opens in the Nexus. "Yeah, Jas, I'll be right back!" It's a newbie, and one dripping wet with a swimsuit that matches the color of her hair.

When she realizes where she is (rather, where she isn't), she stops dead cold and reaches for a PINpoint that she realizes she doesn't have. Because 1.) she didn't exactly ( Read more... )

Amy pauses and looks at the taller, human woman quizzically, but then reaches into her shopping bag and produces a big fluffy, neon orange one.

Taller by only an inch and a half, yo. Jackie takes it gratefully and rubs it through her hair before awkwardly wrapping it around herself. "Thanks...did...did I land in another place where a lot of universes come together, by any chance?"

Phosphorescent white hair swirls around Amy's calves as she nods and quirks a little smile. "Welcome to the Nexus. Don't eat or drink anything offered by anyone you don't know. And don't sit on that couch, it's already turned someone into a cat today."

She thinks back to when Ratchet was both suddenly human and a werebear, so a few ground rules for keeping herself away from that kind of fate are nice...but she still looks surprised. "The couch? Ah...right." Nexus. She'd have to remember that. Maybe her PINpoint originated from here; she'd never asked. "If I go back through that door, do you think it'll lead me back to where I was...?"

Isabelle knew this place was a little off but she surely hadn't expected to see some poor soul in a bathing suit. "Oh dear... You must be terribly cold."

"Um...I wasn't when I got out, but it was really hot out, which was...kind of why I was in the pool to begin with." She tugs Amy's towel a little tighter around her subconsciously. And if Isabelle didn't expect to see THAT, she must be Very New to the Nexus. "I'm all right, though. For now."

Yes, Isabelle is indeed very new. So new, in fact, that Jackie is the first person she's come in contact with. She's searching her pockets now, only managing to dig out sawdust and silver trinkets. Sigh.

"I thought I might have something of use on me, but it appears I don't. At least you've a towel. That's a start." She's smiling sweetly, still a bit confused about this place.

"I'd like a way back, too, but I don't...have that right now. I...I do have something that would work! It's just not on me now." Not that there's much of anything on her to begin with. "I only told my friends I'd be gone a minute so I could grab my towel from inside. But for now...I can just...explore around here, I guess."

Faye's... kinda LOL'd at the moment, hence the fur and general jaguarness.
"Um, I don't. But at least you're not naked?" She's just teasing a little.
Faye gets a closer look at her. "Aren't you cold?"

"I wasn't until people started asking me...!" But she's good-natured about it. And also isn't weirded out by a talking animal! "...Oh! Are you the werejaguar?"

"Hehe... sorry. Yeah, I am, thanks to yet another LOL. I seem to attract the things." She sounds good natured, too.
"You wouldn't
believe how many times I've got LOL'd."

"I've been warned... I-I probably should've asked Ratchet if it was okay to touch him in case he passed it on to me or something awful like that! Unless it turned me into something particularly interesting." Like her giant fighting alien male robot counterpart, of course. She'd be way cool with that. "Even couches change you around? Because someone told me that! Why would anyone want to come here if anything they touch could change them around?"

There's a red jet-former hanging around... "I never had much use for a towl really... sorry."

It's only the most useful tool a hitchhiker can have! "That's okay. I doubt most robots would. Except for wiping things off, I guess. And I've got one now, so at least I won't leave a huge puddle on the floor."

"And keep you warm, of course." She peers at her. "You seem a bit familiar..."

She squeaks. "D-do I...?" And thinks. "Maybe...have you been around that other multiversal hub?"

"Well, I'd offer you the scarf, but it appears your need for cottony drying implements has already been fulfilled." Whether Owen's sudden display of kindness is due to his time in the Nexus, or the fact that a woman in a bathing suit tends to make some folks less interested in their wallets remains uncertain. Or maybe the mun just tends to reply to people who make HHGTTG references... who knows?

One ear flicks back slightly. "Now, judging from the wardrobe and the rather perplexed look on your face, I'd wager you're either new, or live in a blissful state of which I'd be most envious."

The mun eventually realized that she'd made two HG2G referrences to towels in one day in two different places. Jackie smiles a little. "I'm not sure how much a scarf would've helped anyway, thanks. And I...well, I've never been here before. I don't think anything about my life is really blissful right now."

"They can be somewhat handy things to have," he says, fingers tugging at the part wrapped around his neck a little. "I sort of figured it was your first time here. I might have looked like that, myself. I've known a few who can look at the world fresh no matter how familiar they are with a given situation. It's a remarkable skill. As for life, I'm not sure it's ever particularly blissful, but at least it can be interesting."
