There's some laughter, and a door opens in the Nexus. "Yeah, Jas, I'll be right back!" It's a newbie, and one dripping wet with a swimsuit that matches the color of her hair.

When she realizes where she is (rather, where she isn't), she stops dead cold and reaches for a PINpoint that she realizes she doesn't have. Because 1.) she didn't exactly ( Read more... )

Amy pauses and looks at the taller, human woman quizzically, but then reaches into her shopping bag and produces a big fluffy, neon orange one.

Taller by only an inch and a half, yo. Jackie takes it gratefully and rubs it through her hair before awkwardly wrapping it around herself. "Thanks...did...did I land in another place where a lot of universes come together, by any chance?"

Phosphorescent white hair swirls around Amy's calves as she nods and quirks a little smile. "Welcome to the Nexus. Don't eat or drink anything offered by anyone you don't know. And don't sit on that couch, it's already turned someone into a cat today."

She thinks back to when Ratchet was both suddenly human and a werebear, so a few ground rules for keeping herself away from that kind of fate are nice...but she still looks surprised. "The couch? Ah...right." Nexus. She'd have to remember that. Maybe her PINpoint originated from here; she'd never asked. "If I go back through that door, do you think it'll lead me back to where I was...?"

"I don't know if it's the same one, but there's a couch around here that causes Impossible Nexus Kids." Amy reaches up to rub the little Autobot sigil on her arm. "Oh, I'm Amy."

"Kids...?!" She's not sure whether to be terrified of the idea or whether she wants to inspect this couch for any new tech.

While she doesn't have a symbol like that anywhere on her--it's not one anywhere in her universe to begin with--she recognizes it from the other robots she's seen. "I'm Jackie. ...So you're not a robot, but does that mean you're...you know, like a female human version of a machine, too?"

Amy blinks, then gives a little laugh. "I'm not human."

One arm is held out for inspection, far too smooth to be organic. "I'm an atomic level AI."

Jackie's eyes go wide. "Are you really?! That's...so AWESOME! And here I thought all the--the robots were amazing! All that personality like them but in a human shaped and sized AI!" She grabs the offered arm and does a little poking and prodding. Thankfully she doesn't have any of her tools, either. "Feels relatively organic as well. Do you have a full range of emotions? Adaptive personality? It's apparent you seem to have sentience." Don't take this the wrong way, but--"Would it...be at all possible to look inside you...?"

"We're alive," says Amy simply. "We may be sentient energy in a silicon based shell instead of flesh and blood, but we're as alive as you are. But... if you mean do I open up... no, sorry."

"Damn it." She deflates a bit. Aw, and she'd gotten so worked up, too! "Well, that's still really exciting to hear. You said 'we', so is that what everyone's like back in your universe?"

"We made the switch about five thousand years ago." The little femme nods, looking apologetic. "Er, I don't think we really look all that interesting inside, though. There's just a place for our spark, and some tubes for fuel processing."

"But it's still something different." She shrugs. "...So why did you have a towel in a bag with you anyway?" Is Amy some groovy frood who always knows where her towel's at?

The little blond grins. "There's a sale at the Nexus mall. My son loves big towels to wrap up in after a bath, so I bought a bunch."
