Now here's a rare sight. Big, waddling, 'adult' Black Mages.

Give them a moment, they're a bit shy.

Finally, one of them speaks up.

"What are good ways to get children to be nice when they don't listen very well?"

"Lots of things," says Mr. 111.

"Little things," amends Mr. 44.

"They stopped pranking Mikoto, but only because Kuja told them not to," adds Mr. 33. "They'll listen to him. They don't listen to us."

Some nodding, and then they perk up and nod more to let her know that yes, they remember her!

"They... they're just not like the other hatchlings," says Mr. 33

"They get bored easy. And they argue. And they don't do what they're told," adds Mr. 128. He fidgets just a bit, as if just saying something like that about someone makes him uncomfortable.

"And they get mad sometimes. And turn others into toads, even though we told them not to," adds Mr. 111.

Dad usually gave me a good whack if I was bad. Then he'd use a Dwarven Vow or something to make sure I knew what I did was wrong. But then when I was good he showed that he really cared about me, like when I was really little he'd pick me up, and when I got older he started teaching me how to make things.

...I like to think I turned out pretty well, eheh. I owe my Dad a lot.

The first thing just makes those big glowing eyes get bigger.

"Oh no, we couldn't hit them," says Mr. 128.

"They're getting too big to pick up," adds Mr. 44, "but we teach them things."

"They get bored faster than the other hatchlings," says Mr. 111. "Very fast."

I'm just saying, that's what my Dad did with me. And if they get bored you can try to give them something else to do. What kind of games do they like?

Fidgeting Mages.

"They like to cast spells on things," says Mr. 44.

"And they like to fight. Like snowball fights. Or play games like that. And throw things," adds Mr. 111.

"And they fly a lot," says Mr. 128.

"Children learn from example, as difficult as it is sometimes to be patient." Ali gives them friendly smiles. "I hope everyone's well, if sometimes difficult?"

The Mages exchange slow, puzzled glances.

"But none of us act that way," says Mr. 111.

Mr 33 nods. "Everyone is ok."

"They'll learn to behave as they should, when they see you all behaving that way. Children have rebellious streaks. It's their nature to try things other than what they're told, to see what happens. I'm glad everyone is well."

More exchanged looks and Mr. 111 says, "But the other hatchlings aren't like that."

He's keeping his distance. Wouldn't want to make the Mages nervous, but he would like to answer.

"What's happened now?"

Meep!

"N-nothing, Kuja, sir," stutters Mr. 128.

"They've stopped pranking Mikoto," adds Mr. 111. "They listen to you. But they don't listen to us."

"They're different from the other hatchlings," adds Mr. 33.

He acts as if they're not nervous of him, continuing on. "I know they are. What are they doing that they should stop?"

"N-nothing," says Mr. 44.

"Not very much," amends Mr. 111.

"They're just different," says Mr. 33. "We... we don't understand them. And they don't like to listen to us."
