A nobleman strides into the Nexus, looking at his surroundings with surprise and interest. Shielding his eyes from the glare of the sign, he reads it several times and then turns to the crowds.

"What would inspire you to treachery?"

He's idly playing with a large gem around his neck. It catches the light very nicely.

"And what difference would it make if I were t' tell you?"

Given the clothes the man's wearing he might be a merchant or perhaps a sailor. But either way, the clothes seem to be Tortallan in design at least.

((Also? You are made of win for bringing Roger to the Nexus.))

"None but to satisfy some of my curiosity." His sharp eyes don't miss the Tortallan clothing. Best not to say too much around this one.

((^_^))

"Every man has somethin' he'll betray a man for. The trick is t' not be that man."

That is ... possibly a smile a man shouldn't trust.

Roger looks amused. His smile is completely trustworthy. Of course. "Ah, but I'm curious about specifics."

"The betrayal of trust, especially against those close to you or someone in power."

He raises an amused eyebrow at the compliment. "The correct form of address is 'your grace' or 'my lord', but I suppose 'handsome' is not entirely unobjectionable."

Roger nods. "I see."

He sighs slightly. "Indeed? Then I shall refrain from demanding it."

"Against a good ruler? Nothing." She watches the shiny a moment, then focuses on the question again. "It isn't treachery to remove the unworthy."

"If you're sworn to them it is," Roger disagrees. He keeps playing with that stone- the light flashing off of it is very distracting.

"Then it depends on the oaths you swear. If you swore to be loyal to a king only while he was fit to be king, it isn't treachery to remove him from the throne when he's no longer in the kingdom's best interests, is it?" Oooh, shinies. She likes shinies.

"I suppose it wouldn't be. But if you're sworn to support him under any circumstances..." He sighs, slightly tragically. Fiddlefiddle. It's really a little hypnotic.

"Nothing," Jaime says. "I'd never betray my friends and family."

"Your principles are very strong, then." His lips quirk a bit.

"My loyalties are, at least. What about you?"

"I am as loyal as the next man." If the next man is a snake.

"Depend on how you define treachery. Prolly if it looked interesting."

"So easily?" Roger laughs. "Interesting."

Nagi shrugs. "Consciences are for people who want to spend all their time feeling guilty. There does need to be profit in it though. There's a difference between chaotic-evil and chaotic-stupid."

"I see." It wouldn't do to express agreement too openly, but he does smile. And it may not be a nice smile. "How... fascinating..."
