A nobleman strides into the Nexus, looking at his surroundings with surprise and interest. Shielding his eyes from the glare of the sign, he reads it several times and then turns to the crowds.

"What would inspire you to treachery?"

He's idly playing with a large gem around his neck. It catches the light very nicely.

"Against a good ruler? Nothing." She watches the shiny a moment, then focuses on the question again. "It isn't treachery to remove the unworthy."

"If you're sworn to them it is," Roger disagrees. He keeps playing with that stone- the light flashing off of it is very distracting.

[vicioussweetie]

"Then it depends on the oaths you swear. If you swore to be loyal to a king only while he was fit to be king, it isn't treachery to remove him from the throne when he's no longer in the kingdom's best interests, is it?" Oooh, shinies. She likes shinies.

[theconteduke]

"I suppose it wouldn't be. But if you're sworn to support him under any circumstances..." He sighs, slightly tragically. Fiddlefiddle. It's really a little hypnotic.

[vicioussweetie]

"Well, you should have thought of that before you started making promises." It probably would be a little more effective if she were a linear being. But like so many things, hypnotism doesn't work as well if someone leaves before you've finished.

She is curious though. "So what's that?"

[theconteduke]

"I couldn't very well get away with making no promises at all." He glances down. "Just an ornament, my lady."

[vicioussweetie]

"Mm, it is very difficult. You keep playing with it. Are you nervous?" She could suppose this place would make people nervous.

[theconteduke]

He smiles a little ruefully. "A little. This place is not what I've been used to."

[vicioussweetie]

"Oh. Well, there's not much that can hurt you here. Except the el oh els of course, but those don't generally hurt so much an cause a great deal of confusion and/or embarrassment." Smile! See how reassuring she is?

[theconteduke]

"El oh els? Some sort of magic?" He's quite curious. Naturally.

[vicioussweetie]

Naturally!

"Maybe," she answers hesitantly. "Sometimes. Sometimes not. It's... they're tricky."

[theconteduke]

"Strange." He keeps his curiosity under control for now. He can investigate them later. "And how does one avoid them?"

[vicioussweetie]

She looks like she's about to reply, then thinks better of it. A minute's rummage through her bag produces a brochure, which she offers to him. "Read this. I tried to cover all the vitally important things in it."

He reads through it and nods. "Thank you. That's extremely helpful."

[vicioussweetie]

"You're welcome." She smiles again, always happy to help. "I'm Ali, by the way."

"Roger of Conte." He bows to her, in courtly fashion.
