It is rather difficult to enjoy such 'insanity' when there is work to be done that it only serves to make harder.

Ignoring would mean leaving them to their own devices, which tend to be far from productive. And I am hardly in a position to assign my captain more work, even without the fact that he leaves it to pile up enough as it is.
