Today I biked to the mushroom kingdom!
I was enjoying the nice weather, cycling along the boreal countryside, and came across a bunch of giant red toadstools. I quickly phonographed them, and cursed myself for not owning a proper camera.
A little bit of wikipedia searching later, I identified it as a species of amanita, also known as the fly agaric, a psychoactive and toxic mushroom!
to be honest, they look like cartoons. They're the quintessential toadstool. They're large, plump, bright-red, and the caps are mottled with white polka-dots. When children draw mushrooms, they look like this. Even if the child has never seen this particular species. I wonder what role the Mario series has had in cementing this particular image as the archetypical mushroom?
I would love to share the images, but I have no way of getting them off of my phone that I know of. It's this very basic Nokia, and I don't have any fancy features on my plan, just talk/text etc. I've ordered a data cable however, so I should be able to harvest the photos soon(ish)
