30 day football challenge: day sixteen

Day 16 - Which other current players, other than whoever you answered for Day One, are you a fan of?

Well after our latest adventures in international football I am officially a total Rickie Lambert fan of the highest order; though goes without saying I (along with 32,000+ of my friends) knew he was that awesome three years before the rest of the world did. Is this was being hipster is like? lol. Not that I don’t have lots of love to go round for the other Saints guys too obviously; especially Adam, Jack, Jose, Luke, Morgan, etc

Puyol is the best capita in the world ever. My dad has an epic man-crush on him; because he may not the most technically gifted, but you know he will always have your back. Our man is one of the rare good guys that bleed their club colours all over the pitch every game, who make those proper old school bone crunching wet night at Stoke tackles, is a true leader.
All of which I agree with of course … he is also unbelievably inexplicably sexy as hell, I mean yes the ripped body and hair to tug and eyes you can get lost in, but it goes down to that proper deep down primal masculinity. All that and the guy reads books and does pilates; he would probably be baffled and disturbed by reference some caveman sex god credentials.

Obviously I like the whole Barca squad too, they all so unique and wonderful and mesh together as a squad; but I especially love Andres because who doesn't, Dani because he is brilliant and brilliant entertainment, and Leo because I liked him first and have his jersey so umm yeah.

Steven Gerrard also has the other part of my heart that still beats red & white. On the scale of John Terry to Carles Puyol of national captaincy our man is suitably A++. I’ve always felt like he was one of the rare good guys, and you have respect that. Maybe his form has dipped a bit compared to days of old, but he still always gives a damn good go and is a team player.

My attachment to Iker Casillas is not healthy in anyone, let alone when you’re a cule. Aside from legitimately being a top drawer goalkeeper, he is the most adorable person in the world over the age of five. He is so many bromances and they all so sweet. And the fact he cries at everything just amuses me. Did I mention he is devastatingly life-ruining handsome, that might be relevant. Gives you something nice to look at when Barca fuck up a set piece for the eightieth time.
The more I try to fight it the more I just get suckered in, but then I do support Spain. I’m a multifaceted person you see; sometimes I want a captain that could take down a woolly mammoth single handed, and sometimes I want one that I could take home for Sunday lunch with my nan (note; I would never inflict my actual grandmother on anybody).

I don’t know if it’s that he’s mellowed and matured, or I’m just not that grudgey; but Ramos has grown on me a lot too lately. At least with his hair short he looks less like horse. Initially the realisation that one day he will be the true captain of Spain kind of horrified me, but actually now I'm just curious and think he will be ok.

Shout out to my other second team, Italy.
I like Buffon because he’s also beast between the posts, and those eyes; he also naturally is a beacon of Italian swagger and metrosexual (he wears bobby pins for fuck sake). That and the touchy-feely bromance cuteness; given how tactile he is in the normal run of things I can barely imagine how he’s ever allowed to drink, would sex you up soon as look at you.
Pirlo too of course is just absolutely fucking boss in every possible way; anything he does on the pitch makes you wonder why anyone else bothered turning up.
