Summary: Away from respective crime labs they try to have a relaxing time
At a cabin, long away from either Miami or New York, they finally were together for at least a weekend. It had taken time as their job's seemed to never give them a chance to get away. This time they vowed to not let their jobs interfere with this planned get away.
Of course, they knew it wouldn't be easy since they were the heads of their respective crime labs, but for once Fate had been on their side. Now, they sat on the porch after enjoying a nice steak dinner that had been eaten while the sun had set behind the trees. They had tried to stay away from talking about work, but it had come up a few times.
Mac and his team had recently ended a case involving revenge and nearly resulted in a bloodbath when the families had continued toward each other. Four had ended up dead and one badly injured before they had been stopped.
"You know I think that Gandhi had been right," Horatio said.
"Right about what?"
"That if everyone would take revenge… everyone would be blind."
Both sat silent for a long moment. Then Mac quoted, "An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind." He finished the last bit of wine in his glass. "It so lucky that not everyone is for taking revenge and there are good people. Though…"
"… there are too few of them, but then we probably wouldn't have a job otherwise."
Mac stretched for the wine bottle and refilled his own glass and then Horatio's.
"Cheers on that."
Horatio clinked his glass against Mac's. They continued to relax on the porch and when the summer chill came they went inside.
