I've been really busy lately, but I just wanted to say hello. *waves* We had a party/meeting tonight for the environmental club at school and I was kind of the featured event because Pedro couldn't be there and I had to update our Board of Advisers on the case we won. It was nice to get some recognition and kudos from them after basically toiling in obscurity for 3 months. Woo hoo for our project!
It turns out my best friend's boyfriend and his roommate are big Firefly fans! I had all of them over for dinner this weekend and it was so fun learn this fact and then to talk about Firefly with RL people who understanding seeing the BDM 7 times and staying up until all hours of the night watching episodes. My law school friends just tolerantly laugh and call me a sci-fi dork when I admit that I'm obsessed with a cancelled TV sci-fi/Western. :P So, it was fun to have some discussions over dinner about our theories for the backstory on some of the characters (Book and Inara, in particular).
And THEN the next day, I had lunch with my former roommate (who I hadn't seen in a while) and learned she's a Firefly freak, too! The confirmation of her "freak" status: she wants to buy the Region 4 DVD because she heard it has the best extras. Love it! I wonder how many other Firefly fans I know but don't know of their level of devotion? Or is it something about Firefly that inspires this level of *enthusiasm*? Surely there are casual fans, right?
Olympics: I watched the women's figure skating short program. Boring. I didn't get to watch the men's short program, so I don't have anything to compare to, but the short programs are pretty lame because everyone's doing the same thing. I'm looking forward to the (hopefully more creative) long programs. I did like Sasha Cohen's performance, though. There: I'm fully sucked into the figure skating drama.
