WE WON OUR TRIAL!!!
I was on the court's website today doing some research for a different project, when I stumbled across the fact that the decision in our case had been posted YESTERDAY! We'll probably get the official copy in the mail in the next couple of days. I feel like such a detective for finding it early. I was SO NERVOUS when I loaded up the file to see what the result was... heart beating, hands shaking, etc. But our side won! Wheeeeee!!!! I didn't even read it initially -- I ran out the door to tell my favorite professor, then I called Pedro to tell him, and THEN I finally printed it out, read through it, and e-mailed our clients to let them know.
I've basically been on a high since then. I thought I was happy just to be DONE with the project, but this is REALLY good news! Let's not think about how devastated I would have been if our side lost.
I totally missed Lost this week and didn't even get to tape it. AARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! On Wednesday I still felt sick, but didn't feel like I could miss any more class, so I dragged my sorry self to school and tried to quarantine myself from other humans. I had to check footnotes for somebody else's journal article, though, which kept me at school until 10 pm -- I didn't anticipate it taking that long and hadn't set my VCR to tape Lost. WAH! I also didn't really think spending 14 hours at school was a good way to get over my cold, but oh well: deadlines. Still, it kills me that I missed Lost. Maybe I can download it from iTunes?
I'm watching Men's Figure Skating right now. The final 6 men are skating and my biggest impression is: I really hate watching figure skating and seeing people FALL. To be in the Olympics and fall has got to be devastating to these people! It's not graceful and absolutely detracts from the artistic experience. I know that the new scoring system encourages these guys to attempt the quad (
abbers44 does a much better job explaining the crappiness of the scoring system than I could), but I just have to add that I'm so annoyed at seeing these poor athletes FALL in the Olympics because they're trying a Quad in a strategy to get those stupid points.
Unrelated to the above rant, I caught the long program of my favorite skater boy, Evan Lysacek. I missed his short program, which apparently was a disaster because the announcers kept talking about how he redeemed himself with his long program. I just think he's such a cutie, and am glad he was able to salvage his Olympic performance and really pull it together for the final. That's my kind of Olympic victory. :)
