Ginerva Weasley sat on a rock near the lake. It was her first year at Hogwarts and she already felt like she had royally messed up her chances at being a well liked student at Hogwarts. She had managed to escape from her family and just get away and think. She saw the looks the other students were giving her. They thought she had meant to do it. No matter how many times she tried to explain that Tom possessed her and made her do it, it seemed like no one other than Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the adults at school would believe her.
Cedric Diggory felt bad for Ginny Weasley. He knew her since she was born. Occasionally- well okay many times- during his childhood he would go over the Weasley house. She was his babysitter while both his Mum and Dad were at work. The Weasleys were like a second family to him. He saw the looks kids were giving her and heard the whispers and thought she might like some encouragement. He found her by the lake.
"Hey Ginny!" Cedric said as he vaulted himself up on the rock next to her. "How are you doing?"
"How do you think?" Ginny looked at the fourth year apprehensively. "Everyone thinks I am some sort or freak or something. I have wanted to go to Hogwarts and just be a normal popular student since about forever. Now I'm second in the freak line to the Boy Who Lived." She started crying.
Cedric gave Ginny and awkward hug and rubbed her back. This wasn't working the way he had hoped. "I believe you Ginny and I don't blame you. There is no way you could have been the Heir of Slytherin and I know you weren't doing for attention. I need to go now, but i won't tell anyone where i found you. It looks like you needed some alone time. I thought you might need some honestly from another student. I'll see you later." Cedric got up and went back in the castle.
Ginny watched his retreating form and thought her crush on Harry was starting to go away. She smiled at the Boy Who Was Honest's back.
