Quite an eventful weekend!
Friday I went with my boss to give blood, and got told that I am so far under the iron limit that they're sending a sample off for tests and I won't be able to donate again for at least four, maybe six months. I suppose I'm not suprised. I gave up my (vaguely) healthy eating as soon as the nights drew in and it got bitterly cold, and have been told that caffine hampers iron absorption so I have cut right back on my mammoth daily tea intake. On the plus side I was still allowed some custard creams even though I couldn't give blood. A silver lining to everything!
Saturday and I was off to Collectormania, which was amazingly quiet, but good to see Stephen, Alasdair, Laura, Stevie and Gem again - I've forgotten how to do the lj username thing. Met Jason Momoa and Torri Higginson who were both very nice, though Jason was a bit under the weather, but Torri was very chirpy, so much so that in the photoshoot she asked me about my t-shirt (it's in 'ancient') and as I was trying desperately to make a good smiley photoface the question threw me a bit. I sputtered and then said, oh so eloquently, "It's, I , it's... I can't talk and smile at the same time!" but the pic came out well in the end. Asked her about Weir returning to Atlantis, and she said she didn't know, but sci-fi was very forgiving and basically never say never. Also had actual converstations with Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating, which makes up for the last several times meeting them when I've made a prat of myself. Dominic was saying about his Irish heritage and how he'd done the accent before in a play but never on TV, I asked if his character in Heroes would return and he said it was unlikely. He also said that he'd originally signed on for ten episodes but one of the other Irish actors had a row with someone in charge and suddenly they were all cut down to 4 eps. He also rather inelegantly plugged his film: "Go see Beowulf, I'm in it!" Went and asked Connor about Atlantis, he said that he's in back in series 4, and the way they leave the character means they'll have to have him back in series 5, assuming the writer's strike let's them shoot a series five. "He's evil" he said, looking rather pleased with himself.
Sunday I returned for a whole hour and a half just to see Peter Davison, who I sort of gabbled at in an excited 'You're the Doctor' kinda way. He was very plesant about it though. I wish I had my brain together enough to ask a question but three questions to guests on Sat, (four if you count "can I have a picture with you!" to Jason) is a personal best as it is. Went to the Doctor Who talk which was interesting, although, I think it was a bit thoughtless of people to keep asking about David Tennant. Most bizarre sight of the day has to be Katy Manning doing an impromptu Dalek impression, upside down and shaking her head.
Then I had to run back home to change for Farrah's wedding, which, in the end, we were massively early for as the groom's family turned up over an hour late. Still I'm very glad I went. Farrah looked stunning in red and gold, and Billy looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights, bless him! The oddest thing about the wedding was the cultural thing of the bride being expected to look sad (because she's leaving home) throughtout the whole thing. Especially as before the service she was practically bouncing with glee. Someone set off one of those party popper things as she was entering the room and everyone jumped and I could see her fighting down the urge to laugh, staring determinedly at the floor. Stupidly left my camera at home when I transferred stuff from my normal back to my girly one though, sometimes I really am an idiot.
Last ep of The Sarah Jane Adventures last night, no more Whoniverse 'til Christmas; this is the problem with the BBC now, they flood the tv screens with so much Who that poor sad addicts like me get used to it being there, then a series ends! At least there was no cliffhanger.
