As if it hasn't been said enough already...

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. :D :D :D :D You know it's a good moment when you're changing your icons, and you realize that out of the 200 or so icons you have, you don't have one happy enough for this occasion. ;)

I'm a first-time voter; 4 years ago I was 17, a year too young to be able to cast a ballot. But I still knew how big a deal the election was, and I remember being upset when Bush won because I knew what it would mean for our country. Or really, I knew what it wouldn't mean- it wouldn't mean change. Now, no one's perfect, including Obama. He's gonna make mistakes, and he's gonna do unpopular things. But I really think, in the long run, he's the best choice for us. We did a good thing tonight.

My only sadness is that, although not all the results are in yet, it looks like Proposition 8 (the ban on same-sex marriage in California) is going to pass. I was really hoping it would be a celebratory night all around, particularly for gay and lesbian married couples in CA. Even if the ban does pass, though, I'm certain we haven't heard the end of this issue. (I hope not!)

Whew. This is exhilarating, but I've got to go to bed. I have to do my last placement at Spring Ridge tomorrow morning! I'm so glad I got to hear this before I went to sleep, though. I feel like, when I wake up tomorrow, I'll be waking up in a whole new country.
