As you might have guessed, my senior year has started! I'm taking three classes this semester-- JCB's "Victorians in Text, Photo, and Film"; a psych class, "Adolescence", that counts for Ed Studies credit; and another Ed Studies class, "Exceptionality." In addition, I'm doing choir as usual, and working on my SMP, which I have to get moving on as soon as possible because action plans are due Tuesday.

My living situation is good so far. I'm waiting until we get all the posters and stuff up before I take a whole slew of photos to post here. Our townhouse is amazing and HUGE, and I love it dearly. We have a fireplace which we will definitely use when it gets colder. The only downside for the first few days was a not amusing lack of hot water, but Maintenance came to fix it on Monday, so all was good. All the housemates are working out well so far. It's odd living with more people than just Gen, but we haven't gotten in each other's way too much yet. If we each pull our own weight and make sure to communicate with each other, I can make it through my entire college education without any significant roommate issues! I would love that.

Clubs are starting up again too. I had a STARS exec board meeting tonight, which went fine. I have confidence in this group of officers- they seem dedicated and enthusiastic about making the most of the year, and we have been working well together. (Of course, that's what I said about last year's officers, and two of them disappeared without explanation...but I have a naive sort of confidence that these guys are different.) Our improv show on Saturday, as well, was very well received, so that club is also off to a good start. That stuff will really kick off starting next week. (By the way, once again it seems events are conspiring to make me unable to attend a SEAC meeting- Liam says it's scheduled for the same timeslot as improv.)

I have been trying to actually get out and do stuff this week, preferably outside so that I can enjoy the warm weather before it goes away. (Although it's been not so much warm as oppressively hot the last few days...) One way I've been doing this is by attending athletic events. I've only been to a few since I've been here at college, but now that I live right next to the athletic fields I have very little excuse. Saturday I attended a women's soccer game, which was actually great fun for me to watch. We won 1-0, but the teams were extremely well matched; we didn't get that point until 3/4 of the way through the game. Then today, I went to a field hockey game, another sport I enjoy (playing as well as watching) but don't understand quite as well as soccer. Again, we won 1-0, but the point came at the beginning of the game instead of the end. There are more athletic events happening on Saturday, but I might have other plans, so I don't know whether I'll go.

As a senior, I keep brainstorming things I haven't yet done on campus, and vowing to do them before I graduate. I've never done a play, and while I don't have time to do a mainstage show, there's always the one-acts that the directing class puts on. We'll see if I feel up to it. Also, at least one day a year the Great Room has a crab dinner, and while I've sampled other people's meals, I've never actually gotten one of my own. I've never been to any of the Last Lecture series presentations, or a lecture by our Nitze Fellow. And those are just a few of the things I haven't done. I'm going to be pretty busy with work (so much reading in the first two days alone!), but I still want to do as much as I can.

I can't believe I'm a senior. It doesn't seem like it should be that time yet. Senior projects? MAT applications? Getting a car and an apartment? Paying off school loans? It just doesn't seem possible. But I guess I'll have to wrap my mind around it, because I'm gonna be doing it all now. :)

On a completely unrelated note, my favorite song of the moment is "My Skin" by Natalie Merchant. It's come on my Pandora playlist a few times in the last couple days, and it's so mournful and beautiful. I found a great vid to it, even. Here's the link: (Fandom: the newest film version of "Peter Pan")

A final note: if you have any last-minute pic requests for the photo meme, get them to me by tomorrow! I've taken all the photos from home that I was asked to, and will do the others soon. Expect a post by next week, as well as all those other posts I said I'd do but didn't. ;)
