Bit of an unusual links roundup this time!

I've been sick all weekend- ever since Thursday afternoon, really- with the kind of cold that hits you really hard and really suddenly but, hopefully, goes away in a pretty short time. It didn't prevent me from going into work on Friday, and I doubt it'll be serious enough to keep me at home tomorrow- but I didn't go out at all yesterday, and I've spent most of today indoors as well, except for when I had to go to church because I was playing the offertory and they kind of needed me. Suffice it to say that my side hurts from coughing so much and I still feel like sleeping most of the time, but I'm pretty sure I'm feeling better.

All of this downtime, however, means that I've gone a little crazy with searching for links to different things online. Somehow, I ended up searching for songs with my favorite names in them, and I actually found a lot of amazing stuff. Here they are in one place, mostly for you to enjoy, but also so that I can have them saved to listen to whenever I want. :)

'Goodnight, Sweet Josephine' by the Yardbirds
'Alice' by Pogo'. This is a really neat one; it's experimental-sounding and composed almost entirely of sounds taken from the animated Alice in Wonderland film.
'Who the F*** is Alice' by Smokie (if you want a different type of song. This one made me giggle.)
'Olivia' by Edie Brickell
'Gabriel and Me' by Joan Baez

My other favorite name, aside from the ones featured above, is Gideon- but I couldn't find any songs that centered around that name. Oh well.

Plans for the rest of the evening are to make dinner and then curl up in bed and watch Almost Famous. I've also been spending my weekend powering through The Lost Continent, Bill Bryson's account of his travels through small-town America, which is pretty funny. Wish he'd lingered a bit more in Maryland, though. As far as the rest of my life goes, I have four more days of work, and then I'll be off to St. Mary's on the 11th, Gaithersburg on the 13th, and then the airport bound for England on the 16th. As they say in the movie I'm about to watch, it's all happening. ;)

Edited to add: Oh, this is probably the most exciting of all these music recs, because I went to college with this girl! She and I took a Victorian Lit class together and also both worked as tour guides, and she's a sweetheart. She's also ridiculously talented. I had a vague memory as I was reading over this entry of seeing on facebook that she had put out some new music, and thought I'd see if any of it was up on youtube.
