So, which do you want to hear first- the good news or the bad news?? :) Okay, I'll pick for you. Bad news first.
On Thursday night, my grandmother passed away. She was the last of my grandparents- both my grandfathers died before I was born, and my maternal grandmother died when I was in 7th or 8th grade. It's really sad that she's gone, but my family is pretty much okay. She had a long life (if she'd lived to Monday she would have been 92), and we all knew this was coming. Nana had been steadily declining for some time now, and for the last couple of weeks my dad's brothers, Ron and Bill, have been staying with her 24 hours a day. My parents and sister and I were actually up there Thursday evening. Nana wasn't actually conscious, but Ron and Bill and Bill's wife Eileen were there, and other relatives had been visiting throughout the day. The associate pastor of our church even made a surprise appearance. We all sat around in the living room and basically just hung out. It didn't seem very tense; we were sharing memories and opinions and enjoying each other's company. Then my family went home, and I talked to a friend on the phone. A few minutes after I hung up with her, Bill called to let us know it had happened. It was all very final. I think the reason we're not all in some kind of shock or depression is because the death wasn't unexpected. We knew it was coming and we prepared. So don't worry about me, I'm okay.
Now for the good parts. Theater camp is going well. Yesterday we ran Act 1, and we're really getting it together. I'm happy, although I am a bit frustrated because the altos don't seem to be contributing as much in terms of singing as I am. Also, yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day! I'm serious. The sky was blue, and it was wonderfully cool outside, with a breeze and occasionally warm moments. It was actually fall weather, which brings back feelings that school is coming up, but it didn't matter because it was such a beautiful day. And I spent all of ten minutes outside. Go figure.
More later.
