California

It has been almost 3 weeks since i moved to California and i am making a public entry to celebrate!

Some things that i have learned about moving from the year 1800 (Cape Cod) to the year 2011 (California)

In 2011, roads are completely different and everyone is treated equal: Bicyclists get there very own marked lane and at the set of lights, the lane runs right between two car lanes. A middle lane is reserved for anyone, on either side of the road, who would like to make a left-hand turn. Sidewalks and crosswalks are EVERYWHERE and they all have working WALK lights.

In 2011, Wal-Mart is the size of a small city: Wal-Mart really is as big as it is made out to be in movies and tv shows.

In 2011, everyone can smoke weed. legally: it is as simple as telling a doctor you cant sleep at night. You can then get your card and you are able to buy weed/weed related products at many confinement shops. Candies, butters, brownies, etc. You can also hang out at a smoking lounge.

In 2011, dollar stores are really dollar stores: Not only is the dollar tree mega huge, everything is a dollar. No exceptions.

In 2011, you can go pretty much anywhere 24/7: Stores are allowed to be open 24 hours a day!

In 2011, you can buy alcohol anywhere: CVS, Wal-Mart, the local grocery store, you name it; they have alcohol.

In 2011, dogs are treated equal: There are many human water fountains that include a doggie version at the bottom. Also plenty of dog parks.

In 2011, you don't need a car!: Aside from the many bike trails and bike friendly roads, their are also many bus stops that are visited by a bus every 30-minutes or so. It costs you a dollar. Youc an also buy day, month, and yearly passes at discount rates.

In 2011, there are a few more species of plants and animals: Self explanatory.

In 2011, everyone is much more friendly and relaxed: The atmosphere and people here are great. They are all really chill.

In 2011, it is easy to eat organic: Can't walk far without seeing a farmer's market or any other organic-related store.

In 2011, rivers exist: yup.

In 2011, everything is eco-friendly: Some new technologies i never knew existed out here that conserves energy and saves a lot of money. (Unlimited hot water using tankless hot-water heaters, solar-power everything, i even see recycle bins for used batteries at stores)

In 2011, i can do everything online: I can pay for all my bills and such on my town's website

In 2011, its easy to get your car inspected: As long as it passes the smog test, you get a sticker placed on the top right of your license plate.

I am sure i am forgetting more things. Maybe i will make a sequel in another 2 weeks when i have been here a month.

I do wish certain people from 1800 were here with me though. I definitely wish someone in particular, who i was supposed to do this with, was with me.

EDIT: In 2011, Otter Pops still exist.
