hi there. i must say that your entry is brilliant and extremely thought out. you write so well. and i completely agree with everything you're saying. i too am a christian (if you can still believe that after some of the things i said today on the english majors forum, whew!) but i do not support or condone much of the Catholic teachings because i find them highly misogynist. i'm a stauch, some might even say militant feminist, and i believe that much of what comes from the Vatican is outdated. i think that men and women are equal in every single way, and that just because women bear children does not mean that they should be forever tethered to the private sphere. if men wanted to, they could just as easily run the household. we are not angels, we are not beings with a primal knack for housewifery just because we are women. we are people, and we deserve the same rights as men.
The pope is "sick" in his mind and attitude. Sorry. I grew up in a very catholic environment and i am glad i escaped it 21 years ago. The catholic was and is against anything good in me as a person. Like being a female. Like enjoying my body. Like enjoying sex. Like being proud of myself as a female. Females are reduced to being a mother and housewife only. Sex is nothing that you should enjoy. And it goes on like that. No thanks. Life and soul is really more than that.
Well that is what ppl made out of what Jesus said. It has got nothing to do with what Jesus said. I dont believe in any christian institution that exist. And that is one of the best decision I made in my life.
Good luck with ur decisions regarding that subject...
i know. it's really frustrating with so-called feminist theology. when i studied feminist theology, it was so frustrating because the lady who was writing it (who was a nun) kept making examples pulled from the Bible and the Apocraphya like "God is like a mother hen...like the woman who cleans her house looking for the lost coin (the coin being the lost souls and the woman being God,) God is like a mother protecting her children...etc." women can do more than just be mothers, wives (the church being the bride of God) and cleaning house. the Holy Spirit is regarded aparently as a female spirit, but it's sort of the forgotten step-child of Christian theology. even in its depiction as a dove it's not even human like because it's an animal. the problem was is that many of the books of the bible and scriptural writings were thrown out because they were threatening to patriarchy. in many writings it was written that Mary Magdalene was first and foremost NOT a prostitute, and that she was the favorite disciple of Christ. many things
