YOU ARE READING THE LJ POST OF A GENUINE SCAVENGER HUNT WINNER STOP.

'THE BRUISERS', DRESSED ALL IN BLACK AND BLUE AND GREY, GOT THE HIGHEST EVER SCORE STOP.

WE HAVE WON $100 TO POSTE, A CLASSY DC RESTAURANT STOP.

MY LEGS ARE GOING TO FALL OFF STOP.

The longer version is that I was teamed up with one of the new acting fellows and we strategized wisely. With my smartphone and knowledge of DC, we quickly figured out each of the clues on the scavenger hunt list, and from there were able to figure out the best plan of attack. We did have an advantage this year as a group- SuperD was actually supposed to plant the second list of clues at the theatre on Friday night, but because I was there running lights for our afterschool group's performance, he couldn't do it without being seen (so now I know why he kept holding that big envelope and looking shifty *facepalm*). This meant that everyone got the first two sets of clues at the start... and it just so happened that the third set was in our rehearsal studios, which were only a ten minute walk from our starting point. K and I got to sit in the studio and work out all the clues in peace thanks to our timing.

Our strategy was to hit the sites with the biggest points- Arlington and the Marine Corps Memorial (where we had to recreate the famous pose as best we could in front of the statue), which combined into something like 65 points. We also posed by every metro stop we passed, which was worth 10 points each time. We then hit up the area around the theatre, which was our final destination, doing the last few rounds of clues.

Truth be told, we didn't even do THAT many clues, but since we got the big ones and got both of ourselves into every picture, they added up. The second place team (our Development and Prop interns) hit up the locations in Dupont, Adams Morgan, and U street, but lacked the big points we'd gotten. We even made it to the theatre first of any of the groups- rather than a Top Model style 'If you're late, you're disqualified', late teams lost one point per minute. We waited about half an hour for the others to make it in and then all headed out for drinks and dinner. SuperD joined us 15 min later with the results and awarded us our gift certificate.

I am now COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED from trucking it across the DC metro area, but well satisfied with the results. :)

i guess i'm cmk's bitch by proxy, kickass-ity, dc
