The Express Night Out has this to say about Mary Zimmerman's production of "Candide", which opens next week here in DC:
"Candide" has always been a difficult piece, a sprawling pseudo-opera based on Voltaire's tight little satire of the same name. But it was also written by Leonard Bernstein, who was one of the great American musical geniuses. (And, incidentally, smoking hot. Google image search that immediately.)
I don't know whether to *headdesk* or applaud vociferously.
