six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

Things of the good
+ I went to see 'The Princess and the Frog' today and I mostly liked it! There's something pretty magical about putting New Orleans as the center of your fairytale world and having climactic events taking place in Jackson Square- it's very much a romanticized world, but hey, that's what HAPPENS in fairytales. Not so pleased about the Cajun firefly, but HEY, it was kind of awesome just to hear the accent and the zydeco. Overall, I think it worked hard to take some important steps in the realm of Disney Princess flicks and there was some good fun to be had (PLUS a joke about Shreveport, which will always make me laugh)

+ I HAVE A CONTACT AT THE ASC! An email I sent this morning got answered by someone who will be able to help me GREATLY, judging from what she said in her response. I'm working up the nerve to email her back, as my reply will need to be refined from my guy response, which is OMG YES EVERYTHING EVERYTHING I NEED IT ALL HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. But this is a HUGE step and a big boon.

+ My hair is NOT a disaster! It is messier (as I am not very good with product, try my hardest) and a little poofier, but it is FINE and I consider it therefore a WIN. \o/

+ We start the St Matthew Passion tonight in choir, which I'm really looking forward to. We don't have a lot of rehearsal time, so we'll be moving fast- HALLELUJAH. I get twitchy FAST when I feel overrehearsed, so this is ideal.

Things of the not so good

- My friend Janel isn't singing with the choir anymore. I completely understand and respect her reasons, but it makes me sad to lose my friend.

- I need to actually, you know, WRITE THAT EMAIL.

- I'm very concerned about my ability this month to really get work done on the Thesis of Doom. I need to accomplish so much- 90% of the hands-on research in Staunton and a good deal of writing NEEDS to take place before the spring semester starts, and it's more than a little daunting. I've also got to write my program article for Gilgamesh, which I had COMPLETELY forgotten about until I heard from the director this morning. It would be helpful if I were better with unstructured time, but OH WELL.

- I've also signed on for some things that are squarely tying me to a schedule in DC, which I hope I won't have to back out of. There's choir, of course, and then I'm working with Vic and the Shakespeare group again, which means I'll need to be in Georgetown every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. HOPEFULLY, it will not be a problem, but. Well. FINGERS CROSSED.
