Birthdays are funny old things. Last year, I turned 25 and C and I had a massive party in downtown DC. All of our friends were there, much (MUCH) alcohol was consumed... We took over the rooftop bar of Madam's Organ for a good many hours and it was all amazing.
This year was kind of the opposite, in a lot of ways. For one, C was out of town, so we didn't have a joint celebration for the first time in four years of knowing each other. Instead, I had a pretty quiet day. I helped
streon and C's dad move in a new couch (which is to say that I looked pretty and held open doors for the strong, manly men doing the heavy labour).
balefully came over and we watched oodles of Gilmore Girls (DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAN!), and then tonight, I had dinner at H&M's (Sister made coq au vin! Hayden made chocolate creme brulee!) with the Js. Everything was lovely! Everything was definitely low key. I was away from my computer and phone for most of the day, so it was pretty wonderful to come in and see all of the LJ messages, emails, facebook notes, texts and voicemails that people had sent me- I love you ALL and I feel loved in return, which is all we really require on a birthday.
Tomorrow will be a big day- work in the morning, a screening of the National Theatre's Phedre at the Shakespeare Theatre at night, and somewhere in there, I'm doing the Ask the Artist post at
spnroundtable for this month (so get your questions ready and don't make me look like a loser when I talk to myself about podficcing). I'm looking forward intently to this weekend- it's the big family shindig in Fishville, LA that I've missed the past few years, and I'm really looking forward to being stranded in the woods with the crazies that are my extended family, and I mean that in all sincerity. They're all NUTS and I love them for it.
The moral of this post is: today, I felt loved, and I look forward to feeling it again in a week, which is amazing. Thank you all. :)
