score!

The official recording of my choral exploits last summer in London have been released!

As it says on the tin, it's Mahler's 8th Symphony as performed live in July at St. Paul's Cathedral in London by the London Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Chorus, the choir of Eltham College, and the plucky ol' Choral Arts Society of Washington ourownselves. :D Obviously, there are lots of solisits, but they all have complex Russian names that I can't be bothered to type out (apologies to our Russian LJ overlords).

This will likely be of little interest to most of you, but if you've been waiting on tenterhooks since this shindig went down last summer, WELL. ;) They do say that Gergiev GETS Mahler, and who am I to doubt the great minds known as They?

I can say that it was a thrilling experience to perform with Gergiev of the Toothpick Baton and the members of the LSC I met were lovely. I got to poke around St. Paul's at will during breaks in rehearsals, which is a fabulous experience in itself, and nothing can quite beat the neverending reverberations of sound that you get under the dome of St. Paul's.

SO! There you have it. Mom is getting a copy for Mother's Day- she was with me on the trip and, bless her heart, argued her way into a seat in the front of the nave so she could see me while I sang. :) I've no doubt she'll appreciate the gift.

For me, I'm off to grab my score and sing along to all the best bits. :D
