I'm the what?

which art movement are you?

this quiz was made by Caitlin

Founded by a bunch of Englishmen in 1848, "The group popularized a theatrically romantic style, marked by great beauty, an intricate realism, and a fondness for Arthurian legend." (artcyclopedia.com.) Creative license is taken here; not all Pre-Raphaelite art was dark, mediaeval, and deathly serious, like you are. But there were a lot of drowned maidens, and you'd like that.
Famous Pre-Raphaelites: Waterhouse, Millais, Rossetti, and You.

I'm a bit disturbed by the 'drowned maidens' line... and since when am I 'dark, medieval, and deathly serious'?? Ah well, that's why it's a silly online quiz. ;)

Yeah, so, my laptop apparently can get online now, but Sam and Brian are at IKEA, so I have no one to explain to me what to do... Oh well. I decided to give an update a go anyway- I'm sure my efforts are appreciated by my hordes of readers, right? ;)

Let's see, anything interesting happen? Well, I have $30 in the bank and rent is due this week- that's exciting! Sigh... Dad is supposed to have wired me enough to cover my share, but my account has yet to show anything. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but this is rather important. I get my paycheck next Friday, so I definitely need the loan. Other stressful news- when I got in the car yesterday to drive to Bala, I was two minutes out of the apartments when I noticed a great big wasp two inches from my face. I rolled the window down to shoo it out, success- BAM. I rear-ended one of the bitchiest Main Line ladies of all, just my luck. I was going 2 miles an hour, but she freaked out and is trying to claim at least some measure of damages (she was fine when I talked to her, and her car's bumper is *scuffed* is all...). Note: I too would have been upset had I been rear-ended, so I have sympathy up to a point. But there is a point- she was really, really rude to me, and if she tries to get crazy damages from our insurance, I shall be royally ticked off.

Sigh.

And the thing is, I'm a good driver. I really am. I'm so cautious that all my friends make fun of me, and I've never gotten any sort of ticket ever. And yet, here I am. Sigh.

At least I didn't cry until *after* she was gone. Of course, I made up for it by letting it all out in front of poor Sam and Brian, but that's another story.

In *good* news- Friday was Jamie Cullum day! Sam and I got all gussied up and drove into Philly, arriving at the club at 9:30. It was sold out- hurrah for Jamie! Our table wasn't the hottest, as Sam couldn't see the piano, but what an angel- she gave me the chair that let me see everything. :) Jamie was fantastic- such fun to watch, and sounded so great. You could tell that this was the kind of venue he felt most comfortable in: tiny little jazz club, low ceiling, crowded room... :) He was such a sweetheart afterwards to everyone who waited to have their CDs signed. I brought along my UK release of twentysomething and got the surprised looks I was hoping for. ;) (such a dork, I know) It was such a good night, and now I have a picture of Jamie and me just waiting to be developed (after 25 more pictures or so, but still! It's there!)

I picked up a copy of the recent film version of Midsummer Night's Dream, hoping that I would enjoy more than the last time I watched it... It was several years ago, before I appreciated the play, so I had reason to believe I might like it this time. The result? Eh. I got a kick out of seeing a young(er) Sam Rockwell amongst the mechanicals, but Calista Flockhart and Michele Pfeiffer still sucked... Oh well. Kevin Kline did his best in a silly production, but I admit I was hoping for more from him during 'Pyramus and Thisbe.' Makes me want to see my favorite production from the New York Shakespeare Festival- darn you Swarthmore library who doesn't seem able to get it over here!

I also bought a copy of Ken's Henry V- haven't had a chance to rewatch it yet, but I did watch the old trailer- HA! So silly, esp the ridiculous 80s background music and dramatic narration. ;) They did put the Non Nobis as the background for the menu, however- way to tug the heartstrings before the movie even *starts*!! :-p

Ok, I'm starving and Sam isn't back yet to cook dinner, so I'm going to go find something. This entry was clearly brought to you by commas and hyphens, as I feel like I used one every five words or so. ;)
