Construction/remodeling update: The department is starting to come together. I moved the basses from 3 walls to 2, it looks fuller. Now I gotta make that empty wall full of accessories. I made a nice pointy guitar display in the front, and then worked on the high end wall. Main floor is starting to shape up. I have to still work on the rest of the white space on the walls, and then also on the counters. They are gonna be carpeting the drum dept and the new rooms there this week, so that'll be fun.
Wed 10/13: I was on a huge 90s rock music kick at night. I went on a downloading binge for tons of stuff I hadn't heard in ages (Rob/White Zombie, Tonic, Blues Traveler, Marilyn Manson, Garbage, Faith No More, 7mary3, Our Lady .Peace, etc). Also I found out that it is not only the 10 year anniversary of Swiss Army Romance (holy shit!), but Chris is going to be doing a solo Dashboard show in Nov and do that album in it's entirety.
Thu 10/14: Went to La Gomera in Hialeah, and got my tired patched for $12. I had picked up a HUGE bolt in my brand new tire! Grrr. Carolyn and Gary came by, and we went to The Sicilian. Best rolls ever. Then we watched Up. "Rhino 'choo marry it?" haha
Fri 10/15: Worked, then went straight to my moms for dinner. It was so delicious and well appreciated. Passed by Denise's after, and took her to meet Luelle. We walked around Springs a bit. After I passed by Christie's to pick up some yummy Watermelon fusion cupcakes (that someone erroneously told her did NOT taste like watermelon)
Sat 10/16: Had my guys show up at 9:30 for a pep talk meeting. Got right to work. We got a lot accomplished. After I went home, got dressed, and went to Rob's surprise bday party with Denise. Saw Lina there, which was nice. Met Cari again. And freaking DAVE BARRY was there...I hadn't realized that my friend, Rob BARRY, who is also a journalist, had Dave Barry as a father. lol Alas, none of my friends knew who it was.
Sun 10/17: Gary and Caro came by around 9, and we went on our way. Turnpike down to 392nd st, and into the Everglades National Park. We did the Lone Key Pine bike trail. It was...well, it definitely was an adventure. 5 minutes into it, the path/trail was flooded. We rode our bikes on the 'shoulder' for a bit but then that became impossible. I tried to see if we could cut across the sawgrass but then that got too deep. So we took our socks and shoes off and walked our bikes down the puddle lake. It was perfectly clear....there were small fishies in it! After that we walked til our feet were dryer, and put our shoes and socks back on.
We biked for a bit, and then hit another little trail lake. It was shallow, so we traversed it on our bikes. Another 15 minutes passed, and we hit another one. We start biking through it, and as we keep going, the depth of the water keeps getting larger and larger. I was pedaling on my tippy toes, trying not to get my shoes wet. Then all of a sudden...ENTIRELY WET AND COLD RIGHT FOOT. A few seconds later....left foot. Oh well. Our feet were wet.
After a little while on consistent dry ground, we stopped and wrung out our socks and shoes. A little while later, we were crossing another little trail lake, and Gary (who was in front of me) hit a weird slippery patch and braked really fast. I couldn't swerve in time, so I landed in the water (my feet anyway). So, immersed shoes once again haha.
The trail itself was...weird. Fun, but not a lot of little diversions. The pines were beautiful, and there were some cool plants here and there. It was super rough in parts. I took my new bike, which has no shocks and skinny tires...it managed well enough though. I almost ran over a huge gray snake, which scared the shit out of me haha. Near the end of the path we hit a late, which me and Gary stepped out into because it had these really cool huge rocks. I slipped because I stepped on something sharp, and my entire ass of my pants got wet.
After we left the park we spent like an hour driving looking for food. I HATE homestead so fucking much. Run down buildings, nothing but mexican food, and it was all closed! Ugh. We eventually just came back here, and ate at Casavana. We tried to do some pool time, but they haven't started turning on the pool heater yet unfortunately.
