Feeling good today...

But that is not surprising since I had chemo yesterday and I am riding the wave of steroid induced Super Woman energy. I get another dose of oral steroid medication tonight and then by Sunday the "high" will be gone and I will be laying on the couch, eating bon-bons. Well, that's not the truth either, since this chemo really affects my sense of taste. But I will be eating - my weight gain has been awesome since Artgeek & WGSIL have been fattening me up like the potential Thanksgiving turkey. I won't be surprised if my next step onto the scale shows 125 lbs. Way back in December I weighed 103 lbs, so gaining weight is a very good thing - when I gain weight it means that the cancer is NOT growing. And for this, I am very grateful.

Life here has been busy and so many changes have taken place in our home. The newest project is the back room which used to house all my craft and sewing stuff. This room has now morphed into my bedroom. WGSIL has fixed the leaky roof issue and now there's major room remodeling going on back there. That room was added on by the previous owner and its construction is rather dubious. There's an aluminum ceiling that is very low. Once the ceiling tiles were removed we were faced with many glue spots (five for every tile). WGSIL & Artgeek worked on getting the glue spots off for 3+ hours with very little progress. That is when they went to Plan B, which is covering the ceiling with fabric. We found 110 inch wide fabric at Joanne's in a celery green print and it was affordable, lightweight and really quite nice. We picked out paint and glaze for the walls and floor. They have filled all the lines in the paneling with mud and right now Artgeek is sanding the paneled walls. Next is a coat of Kilz and then the paint. Right now the project is at the "It looks really ugly stage" but they say I will be ensconced in my newly redecorated bedroom by this time next week. I am so thrilled by all this!!

Boychild is doing well - WGSIL & Artgeek have been playing all kinds of games with him. Right now he is thrilled with games called Munchkin and Unexploded Cows. They seem to be having great fun and I love to hear their banter and giggles. Since Boychild has a 4 day weekend, he will be part of the painting project which I know he will enjoy. He played with his skateboard so much that it literally fell apart. We did some investigation on the Internet and offered him some options. He decided that he didn't want to wait until his birthday (Nov. 2nd) for a new skateboard so off we went to Sport Authority where he used *H*I*S* hard earned savings to purchase the skateboard of his dreams.

JerseyChick and her husband came over from Orlando where they were vacationing on Tuesday and we had a great visit - out to eat for lunch and dinner. As always, they are great company and it was just super to spend the day with them. I am so lucky to have them as my friends.

I am also so grateful for all the cards, emails and calls from everybody. Having a long illness can often cut a person off from the activities of life. Being a full-time cancer survivor takes quite a bit of energy and you get caught up in the cycle of doctor's visits and tests, which is quite boring. However, I've never felt that way at all the past 10 months. I've not been very good at answering emails all the time; some days I am just too wiped out. Sometimes if you call in the evening I don't answer the phone for the same reason - I tend to get tired at the end of the day and I am not good company.

But I am always grateful to know that everyone is out there, cheering me on.
