So I would say that I'm not merely a connoisseur of music but rather a feaster of music. I can seriously sit and just listen to music for hours on end. My appetite is insatiable and I'm constantly looking for new things to discover

Brain is partially dead because I haven't eaten lunch yet, but once I can think clearly, I'm sure I can make some suggestions for the Roadtrips Classic list. I also have several acoustic songs I think you might enjoy, so I will zip those and upload them, and put the link here.
Later, when my stomach is happily digesting sustenance.
As far as Road Trip Classics, these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head that I would personally enjoy jamming to, if my car had more than just a tape deck. I guess this personally depends on if you want songs that have to DO with driving, or just upbeat ones, or both..?
1) Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrane? I think that's the version I dig. 2) Drive - Incubus 3) Karma Chameleon - Pick your cover.
..resisting the urge to bombard you with the 80s songs I dig, because I think those are mainly what my roadtrips mix would consist of. ^_^;;
Homan, life is a highway is a must. I didn't even think of that. I have drive, but I didn't see that as a roadtrip song, but you know that I sing it out when I'm alone. I've never heard of Karma Chameleon. I gotta check that out. I won't lie, I'm not a huge 80s fan. I always enjoy your comments and I'm currently listening to your acoustic jams. Thanks for uploading them for me! I love this Lifehouse one that is playing right now!
Everybody should know "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," but there's a surprisingly large population (of unwashed heathens) who don't. Find a good cover band version (The Beatles are fine, but lack punch) and you can all learn it together. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is in that same vein.
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a terrible choice. It will get old by the second verse, except for ONE PERSON, who will want to hear it every twenty minutes. Make sure you don't have access to it. This goes double for "Livin' on a Prayer."
It's fun to hear people try to stumble through "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "It's the End of the World as We Know It."
I'm sorry, Joe. I seem to have confounded the issue by listing a bunch of songs you probably shouldn't use, while not contributing to the answers you really want. Whoops.
You are right for the first two. They can get annoying fast. We didn't Start the Fire and It's the End of the World as We Know It are good choices. I'm thinking perhaps a You Give Love a Bad Name and Love Shack might also be included. Even if people don't always know the verses, they all sound in on the chorus!
The Society of Physics Students had a good time with "I'm gonna be" (500 miles) by The Proclaimers, on the way to Fermilab. In fact, it's the only song I got them to sing.
Also, in some circles, Meatloaf's "Bat out of Hell" and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" go over well.
Aretha Franklin's "Respect" is always fun once too ;-)
So many good versions of "I'm Gonna Be" too! I still don't know what "havering" is. Never heard of the second 2, but I should check them out to see if my ear can remember what my eyes cannot.
I think you need to find out exactly what the last song means to me.
I would think any Billy Joel song, particularly "We Didn't Start the Fire" or "Only the Good Die Young"....but then again, I'm a huge Billy Joel fan....
Ooh, there are lots of good ones everyone should have! I have no idea where to start! Er, really. I went through my iTunes and started pulling songs and... the list is pretty long. Sixty-five songs long, and growing.
I won't clutter up your comments page with my stellar list, but I will point you towards a place that may help you in your quest: awesomeness lies ahead. You can search by year or type. It will make you remember songs and bands you haven't thought of in years. You're sure to love it.
Please clog away! I recently compiled my own comprehensive list of the best the 90's had to offer, as I am a hard core 90's aficionado. A vast majority of my playlist will work well with roadtrips, however I wanted something that spanned more than just my personal era.
