We went to Pine Nook Daylilies today and picked out five daylily plants to fill in our side garden. We were looking for daylilies to complement what we already had there, which were yellow. The two boxes are now sitting in the closet by the front door. "Green Tomatoes -- 10/14/07," they read. I packed the green tomatoes in newspaper and layered them in the boxes, as instructed by various gardening websites. The idea came from my mother-in-law, who used to pack green tomatoes this way.
