The Great July - Day Three

On my sister's birthday, I woke up, took a shower with the works (that is, double shampoo, full conditioner, all shaving and face washing, etc.) and had it all blow dried and gorgeous before breakfast. By the time grav_ity showed up, I had already eaten breakfast, called Joy to wish her happy birthday (and talked to my little niece on the phone, which was hilarious and adorable), and set up Mii's on the computer for Anakin, Arwen, Emma, and Ryke (well, Ryke set up his own, and I don't know that any Mii in history has so closely resembled the actual person).

In other words, it was a very efficient morning.

We left for the movie about 1:00, and we must have been quite a sight to see because Kate and I, at least, were pretty hyper. I will do a separate post for the movie itself, which... well, I didn't hate it, but I really had hoped it would be more. Still, the experience of watching it with so many long-beloved geeks made it a romping good time no matter what. It was also funny when we came home and I asked Emma what she thought and she said, "I need a drink." So I told her Ryke would probably make her one if she asked. And he did. ;-)

The rest of us had freezie pops. LOL

We taught Emma the basic version of Settlers of Catan and then when out to cook s'mors (again) and talk fandom. We do a lot of that. We came inside and I started playing Zelda: Twilight Princess again, this time getting to actual enemies to face (venus fly trap plants and mean bats). I am so uncoordinated. I remember why I was wary of video games after they went 64 bit. I don't have good reaction time on the twenty bajillion control combination you have to memorize! Still, there was a lot of laughter as I stumbled through these efforts. This is how grav_ity described it to melyanna at the time:

Faith says hi. She is currently trying to kill bats with a fishing pole, because she panics when attacked, and forgets where she put her sling shot.

Finally, it was a couple of episodes of Avatar (to help us heal or bond, as needed), at which point I started zoning out and went to bed. I was the first one of the four of us to go to bed and the last to wake up the following morning. At 11:00 a.m., to be precise...

My three cohorts will not be leaving comments to this entry because they're all actually sitting here offering verbal commentary. Seriously, this is one of the best weekends of my life.... hahaha.
