On a roll...

So, as far as I know, Witchvox has accepted the one article; the other does need rework. (Thank you wodentoad for your comments.) I've got a good friend of mine who's sending suggestions via email, and will submit it elseewhere and again. I did spend less time on it than the others. The one acceptance is phenomenal -- especially since I haven't written or published anything in years. Six years of newspaper experience from twenty years ago doesn't really prepare you for what I'm doing now. I was in the 10th grade the first time a major paper picked up one of my articles (originally published in my high school paper), and that's happened a few times since --but I am way out of practice!

Right now I am on a roll. I've started working on the yard to get it ready for fall stuff. Seems like Mabon is just around the corner, and my garden and yard look like trolls live here. (They do -- but that's not the point.) They aren't the ones who make the messes, generally. So I've cleaned the patio off as best I can, couldn't physically start the weedeater with my weak muscles -- so just tried to kill the weeds as they are (we'll see if it works), and sanded down the grill and covered it with the first coat of rustoleum stuff. Hopefully the first time I fire it up it won't melt off with lots of fumes. After it dries, I probably ought to fire it up, just to make sure it won't -- before we have a cookout.

Just got back from the Harvest Gathering -- was a LOT of fun. Had a good time with friends and new folks alike, and am not at all sorry I went. Also proud of myself, since I drove myself both ways for the first time in 2 1/2 years! It was just to Gatlinburg, but it was an accomplishment, nonetheless. Stayed at some friends' house until Tuesday until I had the spoons to drive back, but I wasn't nearly as exhausted as I thought I'd be, especially since it poured rain on Sunday and took hours to pack up the site. I'm afraid I wasn't much help, as I had planned to be, when it came to packing up, as I had to stay as warm and dry as I could to avoid getting sick. But I did what I could... Got everything dried out and repacked on Monday, then rested again, and drove home Tuesday...

Anyway, had a busy weekend, got to see the hubby (a surprise) as he ended up taking his long road break just a few miles down the road from the gathering and attended Saturday night. People were glad to see them, and he was glad to be there. And of course, I'm not going to complain... :-)

He'll be home again Thursday evening for a two-day break. Hopefully looking for a local delivery orute that will pay well, too. The company he had hoped to hire on with last month has already hired out, but they are saying call once a month or so until they have an opening. It just took too long to get the necessary certs to get on right away. But in the trucking industry, turnover is incredibly high, and it's not likely to be long before there's an opening somewhere, and now he has the additional certs (haz mat and doubles & triples) for incentives to hire with other local or short-haul/dedicated deliveries that will get him home every few days or so and off on weekends.

His music is doing well, and he's actually using his digital recorder! Has finished mastering one song and is ready to start on another. It will be good if he can get a CD together or a demo. I'm really excited about it, as those who like the type of music he plays have given a positive response so far.

Anyway, that's all for today...

update, work, feeling good
