Fate?
It looks like a desire from age 5, with years of study, and many people beleaving I would do it anyways, it's finally going to happen. That's right, I'm going into the military! (((horror music sounds in the background)))
Not regular Army mind you, just the National Guard. When I was in high school I couldn't decide between the military, and college. So I told myself I would wait untill after college, and If I wasn't in a serious relationship, or on my way to a carear, in I would go.
Plus I'm smarter than the average bear, so that helps. The average time my recruiter usually spends with someone is 1/2 a hour. When I talked with him, it took 2 hours. He said it was the first intelegent conversation he's had in a long time. Now, being that there has been low turnout with recruts, what with the media lieing about Iraq and all, And my above average promace, I got an even sweeter deal. Not only do I get a $20,000 bonus for folowing in my Grandfather's footsteps and becoming a combat engineer, But they're sending me back to college. 4 years of full tuition, $1,400/month spending money, guaranteed non-deployment, but uppon completion of my 4th year, I will recieve a commision as Second Leutenant.
In those 4 years of college (yes i worked it out) I can both comlete my associates in Electrical Engineering Technology, as well as get a bachelors in Health and Fitness Instructor. So basically, I get to go back to college, get payed almost as much as I'm making now, get to have a hell of alot of fun, keep my house, and serve my country by doing what I'm already doing! plus I get to become an athlete again! :D and hopefully while I'm back at college, I can meet some sweet woman who's looking for her MRS degree ;)
Though I have not officially joined, if I can get 3 good reasons not to go by thursday, I'll stay here and try to get things to work.
