Things have just been coasting lately. nothing too exciting with life right now. Well, except for I'm now the proud owner of a WWI, factory converted into a WWII Mauser. 1915 was a good year in Spandau, Germany.
Fun things happened durring the re-enactment this weekend. Everyone's uniforms felt alot looser after all of the sweating and heat. Monday after the last battle, everyone was packing up when we started hearing thunder. Less than 5 min later the rain started, and the frenzy began. Everyone trying to get the 60+ year old equipment into the vehicles. about 2 minutes later, wham it hit! The heavy rain pelting everyone. And as a couple of us looked to the south, we wached a large tree snap and fall to the ground. At that point I turnned to my new friend Brandy (I met her saterday nigth at the swing dance), and yelled "your stuff is going into my car NOW!" In the mad dash to the car she told me she's afraid of storms. And doubly good was the fact that she couldn't get ahold of her mom, who was suposed to come and pick her up. Her brother met up with us, and i threw his stuff in my trunk as well. We then hurried to help the rest of the 353rd division load their trailers (my division, 2nd panzer, had already left at this point), and we were off. About 5 min down the road, someone was heading the other way flashing their lights. I slowed down, and around the corner I saw why. A huge tree was lieing across the road. The trunk was so thick I could only see the roof and flashing lights of the police cars on the other side. I turnned around, and went back to the campsight to warn anyone who hadn't left yet. If any of the guys tried to bring trailers down there, they wouln't have the room to turn around. SO I ended up bringing Brandy and her brother to my house where they stayed untill their mother could be reached. Of course she was pissed she had to drive out to Romeoville. And of course it was all my fault. But hey, when there's torential downpour, and trees falling, and your kids are outside, what kind of bitch leaves her cell phone off even though she's expecting their call?!
