Friday is for RANDOM!
• is there nothing as soothing as blending flour based things with ones fingers? Seriously. In the last few weeks have made several loaves of bread and batches of scones. Am reminded again and again how therapeutic I find baking.
• I organized our department hosting the Friday morning Coffee Break. Themed to kick off next week’s previews of Around the World in 80 Days. Going with the “location” description of the play, we served:
London:- I made scones and brought lemon curd (and digestives) plus tea
Brindisi:- coworker made biscotti
Suez: - hummus and pita
Bombay & Calcutta: - boss made spiced lassis, and I made Halwa*
Hong Kong: - I brought in some (pre made) pot stickers in lieu of dumplings
Yokohama: - we had little packets of miso soup
We skipped the American West and went right to New York: with a coworker’s homemade cheesecake
In addition, had croissants for the character of Passapartout (with Nutella, lol), and Animal crackers as a nod to the circus and animal themes.
• At one point while I was stirring and puttering in kitchen last night, Julie came over from living room and closed the door on me. Took me a few seconds to register what annoyed her. Then I realized I was humming. It’s a very subconscious habit of mine, particularly when cooking or sewing and I can’t hear other music or the TV, I hum to myself. It’s just a happy habit. She doesn’t even bother to ask me to stop because she knows its subconscious. Just shuts the door so it doesn’t compete with TV :)
• Back to 80 Days, final dress is this Sunday evening. Theater professionals can come to the open dress, just rsvp to me this afternoon via email. Message me here if you don’t have my email.
• I curled my hair today…it’s very pretty. Just saying. I really love it long these days, but I soooo need a trim.
• I told you this was random
• Update actually coming to costuming blog! I think…
• Um, I had other thoughts…gone now
• Oh! First read for Santaland Diaries today. We heard the actor do an unofficial read a few weeks ago, but will still sit through again. Should be hilarious. If you’re a fan of David Sedaris and you can get up to see the show in December, recommend it.
• Ah! Right, I had thoughts on Bones. On second season and it is love. Similar yet different thoughts to
watergirlwater’s. Must put down shortly.
Okay, I should be working… later!
* Halwa was really fun to make and a huge hit. Although, as Julie pointed out, making Indian food is very time consuming. Only 7 ingredients but I was stirring down milk and carrots for nearly 2 hours to evaporate all the milk!
