Yesterday and the day before* were "blah" days of way too much sleep / lounging without being productive or feeling motivated to do much of anything. Therefore, today I've decided to be productive and create a mini-list of "Things I need to do to make life better." I'm not sure if I can keep it up but I'm sick of sitting on my duff and being mopey.
*On second thought, Friday involved packing boxes & crates, buying and moving plants inside (damn squirrels...), and knitting so in a sense, I was productive. I just didn't job hunt. D'oh!
Step 1: Job hunting...
I've been very lax about this lately and I shouldn't. Time to grab the bull by the horns and make my life better. What to do: just. freakin'. do it.
Step 2: Lose the inches at my waist.
I've gone from a 26" to a 36" waist. Gimme back my damn hourglass! What to do: get off my butt and exercise (alternate between yoga / pilates and walking / jogging). Eat less and better - start eating oatmeal for breakfast and reduce portion sizes; cut out the random crap I eat when stressed.; and more fruit (because it's summer! Mmm... cantaloupe, oranges, strawberries. <3 )
Step 3: Knit 1, purl 1*
I have two WIPs and another hibernating. I have another project I want to start (head kerchief!) but I need to buy good yarn first. What to do: check out the LYS in Urbana and Champaign and start attending the knit nights. Maybe meet some new folks.
Step 4: Move up and move out!
I've already started this process by buying four extra-strong storage boxes and packing my graduate and undergraduate materials into them. I'm thinkin' of buying two big tubs for linens / towels and clothes to make transporting even easier. I haven't quite decided what the game plan is (ie do I plan to move regardless of job situation OR wait until I have a job situation?). I'm leaning towards the former because that's me; I feel like if I wait too long, I'm going to miss my chance. What that chance is I don't know but moving home to the parents' house is a last resort and should stay that way.
In addition, I'm trying to train kitty to enjoy her harness and leash. We're starting out with 20-30 minute, no leash just harness sessions and then moving on to twice a day, the porch, the hallway and the stairs. Eventually I hope to take bitty kitty outside to the Engineering Quad
Step 5: "scholarly essay"
I can't do much at the moment. The second draft is in. There will be minor fixes (oh footnotes...) and maybe a few major ones, but that's okay. I'm not returning my books until I hand a draft with two signatures to my fave A&D administrator. I got the essay to first base and it's leading off to steal second. Batter's up and we're goin' for a single!
