Storytime - As I requesting off a weekend from Kitchens, my boss mentioned that she tries to have everyone work one of the summer holidays. With Labor Day weekend approaching, she assured me that I would have it off. I said, "Oh really? Good 'cause you had me work Memorial Day and you scheduled me for the Fourth." Insert foot into mouth there boss.
- The girl who left because of Guard duty is (supposedly) back. Because of the holiday, however, her normal first weekend of the month Guard training is pushed back to July 12th & 13th, which is creating problems. For me, that is the same weekend I'm needed at Latte Da because one of my co-workers refuses to work Saturdays... Anyone else want a piece of me? They're goin' cheap!
For the past two days, Shadow's left eye has been leaking white gunk. Her eyelid is swollen a little this morning but there is no eye gunk. If she isn't her spunky self again by tomorrow, I may have to call the vet.
I'm going home July 19th & 20th. Hopefully that Friday afternoon/night but I'll have to wait and see. I would've ventured northward, but I have Shadow to consider and the only people I would trust with my key to my apartment are leaving for Oregon that Monday. Also, I didn't get a chance to go home when my mother had her accident. Family takes priority... plus my mother agreed to fix our traditional summer celebratory fare: potato salad, smoked ribs, some type of homemade fruit pie. Maybe get Whitey's if I'm lucky? I've been craving ice cream like Whoa for a week now.
To lighten up my mood this week (since I can't go anywhere because nobody bothered to plan / inform me about jack until it was too late... good job there folks, why do I call some of you friends again?), I'm making apple turnovers. Possibly going to make fruit-filled waffles as well.
Oh. WALL*E was adorable. Great graphics. However... the end credits. WHERE DO THE FREAKIN" FISH COME FROM?! Did they have DNA stored somewhere? Just because you grow plants doesn't mean fish will magically appear one day. Also, if they had the ability to build a giant spaceship, wouldn't they have had the technology to save the planet? Or is the corporation all to blame (which is a weak excuse if you ask me...)? Also, I want to smack the Pixar artsy folks... Cave paintings, Egyptian hieroglyphs, Classical, Renaissance, and then you jump to Pointilism (Seurat), Impressionism (Manet, Monet), Neo Impressionism (Van Gogh), and then jump to 8-bit?!?!?!?!?!?! Although the 8-bit was adorable but still... way to ignore about 100 years of art history. Was a Wall*E Picasso or Warhol to hard to pull off?
