Dear Winter,
Our tryst is over. The first snowfall, well like all firsts was lovely. I remember how pretty everything looked. Breathing the brisk cold in the morning was invigorating, even the sparkling frost on my windshield shimmered in the early morning sun.
But my last big fling with you was 23 inches of snow. Four days ago "a dusting" became four inches.
Tomorrow they are talking at least 12 inches. Maybe 16 and if everything stalls (which will probably not happen but could) we could have the heaviest snowfall since the 1950s. As in multiple FEET of snow.
Even if it is not that bad, it would not be surprising for three inches an hour. That is expected at times.
Winter? This is Maryland. We be a southern state. Just barely, but listen. Below. The. Mason-Dixon. Line.
So, respectfully, and with some fond memories, I am throwing in the towel.
The divorce papers will be in the mail.
